Leadership & Influence Question
Chevening is looking for individuals that will be future leaders or influencers in their home countries. Explain how you meet this requirement, using clear examples of your own leadership and influencing skills to support your answer.
(minimum word count: 50 words, maximum word count: 500 words)
According to my beliefs traits for being leader is not a gift from heaven, not as people thought in the Middle Ages that the king is born a king and prince born a prince in the bud, or in other words that leaders are born not they make, to be a leading figure successful and important means to make an effort and take time to connect with people's hearts and minds and get them to show the best of their abilities, This is what I will illustration from my experiences.
Firstly, due to our family finance circumstance I used to help them by doing work in many places without affecting in any way on my studies and this was certainly of significant impact that played a highly important role in the formulation of my character and refining it for the subsequent phases, This is what makes my siblings affected by my experience and make it as a model worth emulating.
Secondly, at the university level, where I had the first real leadership experience by reached the position of the presidency of sports office in the governing body through democratic elections at the college due to being a hand ball player in the national team who won numerous prizes, and during my stay at the this position we worked on organizing many tournaments and achieved several awards and still in college treasury.
in addition I had two jobs: first of them, I was employee in Damascus governorate as a civil engineer and due to prove my ingenuity on several occasions and despite my young age I was hired as manager of the Citizen service center despite the fact that this position does not It given to people in my age and most of the team work older than me then I tried to reverse the experiences of my previous life in dealing with different people to create the right atmosphere to work by breaking the routines of a government work constitution, then I introduce new ideas to simplify the procedures for access to the best services to citizens easily and quickly , on the other hand I worked in a restaurant at the evening-time where this place was undergoing its worst period because of the badly sales, which forced the restaurant owner to think about selling it but with some calm and research we have decided to change the thinking by introducing new proper foods and change the interior decoration and provide musical program, and as a result the sales has improved and the whole thanks goes back to everyone figure out of the importance of his work and presented it in the best accuracy and dedication view.
Finally, I have gained the communication skills needed to run any post throughout managing too many projects and being engaged with all sorts of people of all professions made me a more cooperative, subject oriented and a highly dependable personality who has a quite elevated sense of responsibility.
