Mirroring poetry

The assignment that I had to complete was to choose a handful of poems to mirror. I chose three that I liked and attempted to "mirror" the style and mood/tone of the poems.

There are four sets of two poems; the first one being the poem by an author, and the second one by me.

I need help matching and mirroring my poems after the first poems, suggestions please!

I Am He that Aches with Love

I am he that

Aches with amourous love;

Does the earth gravitate?

Does not all,

Matter,

Aching,

Attract matter?
So the body

Of me to all

I meet or know.

-Walt Whitman

I Wonder

There are things out there

That make me

Ponder,

Inquire,

To question,

To wonder.

So exquisite are the things of

The world.
There are those who

Seek

Those who

Listen

Those who study.

But I am not one of those

That is why

I wonder.

Swahili Love Song

If only

The heart had a lid

I would have opened it

And shown you my grief,

And you would have known

If I am

The one for you

-Anonymous

Forbidden

If only

There was a way

For my mouth to speak,

I would have revealed

My adoration

And you would have seen

That she is

Not the one for you.

Bees

Every bee

That

Ever was

Was

Partly

Sting

And partly

...buzz.

-Jack Prelutzky

Felines

All the cats

That

Ever lived,

Were

Partly

Hiss

And partly

...purr.

-Natalie Fong

The Mindful Scholar

Hour after hour.

Tome after tome.

It is despised now though proven

Advantageous when time come.

Despised yet inclined to

The dues of hardship be paid.

And now receives

The passing grade.

-Unknown Author

The Pianist

Note after note.

Key after key.

Practice makes perfect

That, I have heard.

When the recital approaches,

The fingers will fly,

And melodies sound.

Without a mistake,

The last chord rings.

Out in the crowd,

The audience applauds.

This is an interesting assignment!! PLease please tell your teacher that Kevin at EssayForum admires her for this inspired exercise.

You should mirror some Poe.

I especially like what you did with the bee poem, "was" for "fuzz" and changed it to were for furr.

:-)
