Diets impacting on American's quality of life

Nowadays, overweight problems are directly threatening American's health. According a CQ researcher article, written by Mantel, there have been 2/3 of adults and 1/3 of children ether over weight or obsess in U.S. over the 40years (Mantel 2010). Obviously, the overweight issues are like a bomb that shortening American's life as it related with so many diseases, such as heart disease, cancers, stroke, gallbladder diseases, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, respiratory problems etc. (Mantel 2010). In addition, some of American's sedentary lifestyle more likely to lead people to obesity-associated diseases caused by eating large portion size of food, having lack of exercises, plus high stress in the course of life. Therefore, diet become critical since it is the way that can improve and prolong quality of people's life. The question is how diets can impact on our quality of life.

Currently, there are tremendous diet plans actively promoted on the market, they all claimed that they are effective to help people losing weight: such as vegetarian diets, Semi-vegetarian diets, Weight control diets, Low-calorie diets, Very low calorie diets, Low-fat diets, Crash diets, Detox diets, Diets followed for medical reasons, and the other diets; well know Low-carbohydrate diets like Alkaline diet, Dukan Diet, South Beach Diet etc... How can we choose the right plan from thousands of them? The fact shows that it is not an easy task since the human body is complicated due to our unique genes. Some of diet plans actually are harmful and damaging to certain type of people's health for the long run.

1Based on Leonard, statistic data show that, The standard American diet (S.A.D.) is heavy in saturated fats, partially hydrogenated oils, refined carbohydrates, and highly processed foods, this diet, in combination with a sedentary lifestyle, large portion sizes, and high stress is blamed for the increase in obesity and associated diseases in the U.S.( Leonard)

For example, those fast food diets contain a lot of saturated and trans-fatty, which lead people to high blood cholesterol. My husband's personal experience is good proven evidence. Three years ago, he determined to lose weight for health reason, he chose the South Beach Diet because it look like suit his life style, however, after three months, his weight continually increase, almost reach 200 ponds, then he had to see doctor, and found out his high blood cholesterol reached a dangerous level, and blood vessels disease. The doctor warned him to start a healthy diet; also, he might have to take some certain pills for rest of his life.

In contrast, Healthy diets could prolong people's longevity as it provides human body's demand in nutrition, which prevent people from disease, maintain human's wellbeing, and fight from disease. Nutrigenomics, "different foods may interact with specific genes to modify the risk of common chronic diseases, such as Type II diabetes, obesity, heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers..." (Denton) The result shows that food can directly influence people's health.

Hippocrates recommended, "With knowledge, we can allow food to be our medicine and medicine to be our food." We definitely learn that food can affect human's metabolic programming of cell, and help balancing our body (Denton). My mom is a good example to prove this principle. When she was about 30years old, she got her ΕΎ stomach removed as she almost died due to her stomach exposed, since then, she had to be very careful to choose food to eat as medicine, additionally, start having a healthy life style, doing a lot of exercise for assistance, once, she has been sentenced almost went out of time, but there is a miracle, she turn 80years old this year.

According to American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people taking the more combination of vegetables and fruit can lower the risk of getting cardiovascular disease and stroke, due to human body need certain level of mineral and vitamins to support human body's metabolic processes, in order to maintain individual on an optimal status. My personal experiences can prove this concept. I had been always considered as a healthy person, so I had token advantages not taking care of myself until I felled. My doctor warned me that, my body had extremely low in vitamins, which including vitamin E, C, E, B2 and so on...that is way I have been so weak lately. Human's genes certainly cannot be change, however, environment can be modified which influence how human gene's distinct as food is one of vital component of environment.

After review all these researches, I believe that, healthy diets will definitely improve and prolong people's quality of life. Most importantly, people should find out the most suitable diet personalized by doctor through a simple blood test, therefore, to maintain our health in an optimistic level, so we would be able to enjoy high quality of life for a long run.

I took out the "written by Mantel" between article and there. I also removed the first "(Mantel 2010)" because you only need it once if you reference the same source in consecutive sentences.

Human's genes cannot change; however, environment can be modified which influence how human gene's distinct as food is one of vital component of environment.

I changed this sentence (took out "certainly" and "be") but the end of it is a little confusing. Were you trying to say that human gene's can respond to food, since food is part of our environment? Read over it once and see if you can make it a little clearer. :)

I would look over what you capitalize (some words are capitalized that do not need to be), your spacing (40 years instead of 40years), and read through it to clear up anything that might not be quite clear to the reader. Look at your paper from the reader's point of view and ask yourself, "Does this make sense?" To you it will, since you have become the expert on your topic, but the reader may need some clarification.

Other than that, your research and overall paper seem excellent! Well done, and I hope your grade is fantastic! :)
