Any non native speaker here who have taken and passed CBEST writing exam?

Hi,
My name is Ivan and I'm currently pursuing my MA in Special Education with m/s teaching credential.
I've passed all of my CSET exams and CBEST math/reading portions, yet I have been struggling to pass my writing section. matter of fact, I've taken the test 6 times, yet, keep getting the same score.

It is very frustrating, but I realize that i'm not the only one who is having trouble passing the exam. As a non native speaker I have trouble with my grammar, and word choices. But at the same time, i find it really difficult to write a solid, concise, cohesive essay on a short period of time, especially on a given random topic.

also I've tried reading the Cliff note CBEST guides, and some of the samples seem very well developed which impossible for me to match their quality based on the given circumstances of timed exam and my limited writing skill.

I would "pre-write" the essay as much as possible. Sounds crazy but I always do this and it has improved my score. You wont know the topic presented to you, but you could still come up with some of the formatting and preselect good vocabulary words. If you know the type of question that you will get (ex. take a side on an issue) you can memorize some phrases. Also, write as much as possible for practice and have others read your work.

Hi,Can you tell me,which books you used for passing the Reading and Mathematics section of Cbest?Secondly my essay writing is very poor.I think i can not write a single sentence.I am scared of English,Thanks to my English teacher who criticized me so much that i have phobia of english.English is not my first language.Please help me,how to improve my writing.Thanks
