If you were given funding for a small engineering project, what would you do?
During my life in high school, one problem bothered me a lot. For several times, I lost my school ID card, and had to spend a lot of time getting a new one, during which i cannot enter the school gate freely. The same thing also keeps happening to others . In order to solve this problem, I am eager to set up a team and design a fingerprint recognition system which can replace the traditional school cards. How? When one touches the fingerprint reader, it will automatically send the image of the fingerprint to the computer to see if it matches any of the fingerprints in the database. After this system is in operation, it will be convenient for students to go to school, have meals, enter the dormitory, borrow books, and so on.
To make it come true, we will first collect the fingerprints of all the students on campus to establish a database in a computer. Second,we will buy the components of fingerprint readers and ask a professor in this area to guide us to assemble them, which can lower the cost. Then, i will employ a hardware engineer to connect the computer and the readers, install those readers , and debug them. Rest of the funding will be used to check out the circuits, the readers, and the computer regularly and repair them.
With this project, I believe that students will have safer and convenient lives on campus.
