Comparitive Essay - Haroun and Sea of Stories and The Road

I'm having trouble forming a thesis for my comparitive essay between Haroun and the sea of stories by salman rushdie and the road by cormac mccarthy. The essay must compare all elements of the quest pattern, but I don't have any good ideas for a good argument. Any help is appreciated.

What is a quest pattern?

Well, in any essay that compares and contrasts two stories, you should first think about the message of each story. What is each author telling her/his readers?

Write about one message and then the other. Write about their similarities and differences.

In this case, though, if you know what a QUEST PATTERN is, you can start by writing about the quest pattern in one of the stories.

Maybe this advice seems too obvious, but... sometimes all you need to do in order to get started is write one sentence about one of the quest patterns.

***You may need to read the class material about quest patterns TWICE before you start skimming through the story. That way, you'll recognize the attributes of a quest pattern when you see them.
