I am a MBA graduate in HR and Marketing. I am very enthusiastic to pursue PhD in HR. What is the possible duration of this study? I don't know how demanding is this research work. I am the mother 2 small kids. Will i be able to do a PhD now?
A possible duration for a Phd?
My father just finished his graduate degree a few years ago when my brother and I were still young. He always told us that to finish you master or PH D degree as early as possible. As life goes on, your share of burden will increase and your intelligence will decrease.

Harsh!! Wow...
Well, people sometimes take years to finish their degree. However, get a book such as Educational research by Cresswell (2008) and you can read it to see what is required in the research work. You have to be ready to do a research study, and this study might be very simple or very complex.
Try this: google "grounded theory" and learn how to do qualitative grounded theory work. Then, get involved in a program. If you can afford it financially, don't hesitate! And plan on using grounded theory for a study about a process that you find fascinating.
Thanks!
Ranjini,
Duration of a research based degree (Read PhD) is based on the research duration, research plan, the results and dissertation. So, you see it can vary depending on what you are doing, how you are doing it and most importantly how you are interpreting it. Your Advisor will play a major role to say the least. In general, in US it takes about 4 years (at least) and other countries 3 years (at least). Hope this helps.
