It is difficult to comprehend the details of your assignment with the information provided.
I found this on google by typing in the key phrase: Poetry Structure
vaniercollege.qc.ca/tlc/tipsheets/reading-and-analyzing/poem-form-and-structure.pdf
Perhaps your instructor can clarify further? Since the question is directly from your book (What is the title of the book?), I imagine there is a section or chapter preceding this question that discusses poetry structure?
Best Regards!
i apologize for the inadequate information i provided.
the question is....
consider the poems " a contemplation upon flowers" and to an athlete dying young
a) outline what is being contemplated in both poems and the conclusions the speakers have arrived at from
b) compare the structures of the two poems.establish at least two points of comparison
i find part A to be quite manageable but for part B i'm not so sure what i should write.
thanks a lot!
Structure refers to the way the author writes his sentences or formats the poem. Having fragments conveys something different than long rambling sentences. Structure can include repetition of words, phrases, or lines. The way stanzas are formatted (a certain number of lines, different sized stanzas) is also included in structure, as is the way the author chooses to make his lines short or long, or cut off lines in certain spots.
