I am struggling with an essay topic for my history class. The subject area is the Chinese Revolution. It is a standard 5 paragraph persuasive essay. The exact prompt is "Looking from the Communist Revolution in 1949 to Mao's death in 1976, how successful was Mao Zedong and the Communist Party, in moving China toward a more equal, more prosperous and more free society?". What can y'all suggest I say, more specifically what can you recommend to use a evidence / argument. I am looking to outline my essay and need help finding some arguments that i can use.

I think you need to do a little bit of research here... Why not gather information about the issues China had before the revolution, how the communist government tackeled them, how has it progressed, how Mao provided leadership to China's fast economic growth etc. (you may find lots of blogs on internet :)
Then decide whether you agree that this period under Mao's leadershop, contributed China to accomplish a more equal, more prosperous and more free society. If you agree, find reasons from the literature you read already. Provide evidence. If you don't, again give reasons and provide evidence. :)

If I were u, I would organize the essay as I wrote below:
Introduction :
Start with the history of the revolution. In the introduction mention that the essay is going to talk about what. According to the topic in the introduction u should state that the revolution has affected the political and social issues.
body :
First paragraph: Talk about the different aspects of political changes before and after the revolution. What was the role of Mao and point out the positive and negative facets of the issue.
Second paragraph: Each revolution is followed by some social movements. Talk about them and like the previous paragraph, consider the positive and negative aspects.
Third paragraph: Expand you own idea. U should clearly mention whether the advantages of the revolution outweigh the disadvantages or not. Discussion of this paragraph should be in the basis of the previous parts of the body.
Conclusion:
Reword the topic or the introduction, and then write a clincher.

Present the reasons that the program failed and instead resulted in the numerous deaths and failed attempts at disciplining the Chinese people at the time. Then move on to the current point of view about the cultural revolution and the image of Mao. Concentrate on the collective opinion that he caused the biggest failure in Chinese history and present new found evidence to help support your claims. These should serve well to help you create an outline for the topics you want to discuss in the essay.
