As written in the Swedish Proverb, "God gives every bird a worm, but he does not throw it into the nest." People have different opinions when it comes to success. To me, success and tenacity go hand in hand. If you want something, you have to work hard for it. This is one of the most important life lessons I have learned thus far. The key to success is being able to envision yourself in the near or far future. In the next couple of years, I see myself becoming a successful Family Nurse practitioner.

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved helping people in any way possible and have always seen myself doing something in the health care field. It wasn't until my senior year in college that that I realized what my true calling was. At the time, I was recently employed at Vinfen, a group home for the developmentally challenged, young and old. I was responsible for administering medication in addition to helping them with everyday activities. It was a tough job to get the hang of at first, but after a couple months of working there, I found myself really enjoying the patient/care giver interaction. I was exposed to so many things that made me realize that more than anything, I would love to be an advocate for patients while still providing one on one care to them.

Working at vinfen, I have witnessed many instances of patient miseducation and patient miscommunication, both of which are crucial elements of the patient/caregiver relationship that simply can not be overlooked. Adversely, witnessing this, shed light on how honest communication between patients and caregivers can lead to overall better outcomes and better patient compliance and trust. This shows how important a proper nursing education is in helping to prevent illnesses in addition to thoroughly informing patients on the diseases they are suffering from or the medication they are taking. During my time shadowing a nurse practitioner, I was exposed to real life patient experiences. I so much admired how the Nurse practitioner viewed the patient holistically, which influenced and enriched how the patient was cared for. In trying to figure out how to treat a patient, I learned that as an NP, a lot of critical thinking is involved, in addition to the proper education and communication that are crucial.

While employed at Vinfen, I realized that I could use my love for taking care of people and turn it into a career that I would really enjoy. With the experience that I have, I truly feel that I am prepared to begin my journey to becoming a nurse practitioner. In the next few years, I would love to engage myself in my studies and to learn more about what I can do in order to make an impact in the lives of my patients. I hope to meet new and I hope to develop lasting relationships with everyone I am surrounded with, while growing and blossoming in the career field that I love. After my education at (school name) I will be that much closer to accomplishing my goal. As a future Family Nurse Practitioner, I hope to be able to successfully educate, evaluate, and diagnose my patients, while providing personalized care. If by the end of my practice, I could say that I was able to reach a diverse group of people through proper education and teaching of proactive measures, I'll know that I have truly made an impact in this world.

Well.... you have written it well and I don't any issues with your sentences or grammar. However, I wonder whether you have adequately responded to the prompt;

Your personal goal statement should briefly describe how you view the future of the field, what your goals are to be part of that future, and what brought you to pursue an advanced education degree in your chosen field. You may include any other information that you feel might be useful.

In this response you have not tackled what you think about the future of this field - is it taking a different direction? what would it demand? etc.etc.... and then how your goals would set in that future. I think this is one of the most important aspects they would want to know from your response and you better think about this point and align your response with what they really need to know about you,
