I am writing an essay but I want to confirm if the following sentence is correct?

You are the first person I am sending a postcard to. I saw it yesterday, so I have decided to get one for you.

It's fine. But I'd change "...so I've decided to get..." to "...and got..." (Using 'have decided' would only be natural to announce a decision to take an action that hasn't yet been taken, and since you're writing on the postcard it's obvious that you've already purchased it.)

You are the first person I am sending a postcard to. I saw it yesterday, so I have decided to getand got one for you.

Hi writerneedshelp and gauravwalia1988

I want to join in this discussion, my question is

I agree with gauravwalia1988 to change your sentence from

I saw it yesterday, so I have decided to get one for you.

to

I saw it yesterday and got one for you.

but, it is possible if I write like this:
I saw it yesterday, so decided to get one for you

If you want to use --> "I saw it yesterday, so I have decided to get one for you"

Then you would have to write whole paragraph like this:
I saw a postcard yesterday and I decided to get one for you. You are the first person I am sending a postcard to.
You cannot send a post card before you buy. :)

If you use --> "I saw it yesterday and got one for you" then it would be more meaningful.

Grammatically both sentences are correct but still I would prefer to go with "got".

You've gotten a lot of good feedback, but I thought I'd contribute, my opinion.
I think you should say it this way:

You are the first person, to whom I am sending a postcard. I saw it yesterday, and so have decided to get one for you.

I believe the use of, "to whom", is better grammar. You're not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition, which is "to"! In the next sentence, I took out the overuse of the pronoun, "I", because I think it's better with more variety, and still has the same meaning.

Just a couple of pointers. If you want to review more of the essay, let me know.

To haphazardly spend a fortune on the house

How could you buy that house when you have never seen it before.

Yesterday i came across this sentence and i wonder whether it is permissible.

Grammatically, that is a question, so it would need a question mark.
However, it could be an exclamation, either out of surprise that someone bought a house without seeing it, or mocking someone for doing so. Without the context, it is hard to tell.

Also,
How COULD you buy that house suggests that it has already happened, that someone bought a house without seeing it first.
If it said how CAN you but that house, that would suggest that it has not happened yet.
But there is nothing obviously wrong with it.
