Just a question about citing a Washington Post article.

I'm talking about a Washington Post article that my uncle read to me a few years ago in my college essay. Is there a need to cite this article in my essay? The post isn't really the main focus of the essay, but it's important. I have it cited for now, with a footnote at the end of the essay, but is this necessary?

always put it in there just in case.

It never hurts. The person that reads your essay may be looking for something formal- it depends.

I agree. It won't ever hurt to cite more than necessary, just as a general rule of thumb. I know that when my English teacher talks about citing on the English AP tests, she says that you automatically get a 2 on your essay if you don't cite at all, citing is essential! She also says that if you are not sure about whether to cite or not, just do it!

Actually, I think it would be better if you do cite. It may make your essay seem a bit more professional =)
