Scholarship / Qualities of survival - Chevening leaders or influencers in their home country [2]

1.Leadership and influence

I strongly agree that influence is on of the best qualities of survival. Especially in this new social media platforms where several career are taken and elevated by the influence of media. Former American president Barack Obama who used the internet to orchestrate the unprecedented political campaign mainly using social media as prime example, As such ,I am well aware that influence and leadership intertwined ,where one cannot exist without another

In primary school , I had a role of main leadership as a prefect in Young Jai Primary School Dodoma, whereby being an environmental prefect helped to ensure cleanliness throughout our environment by ensuring that all people who littered paper in the school compound were placed as watchers for other not to.
At secondary school, I was a leader in our fellowship session which was held every Sunday. I used to organize various sessions with different pastors in our vicinity to facilitate learning ,I also shared some of the sermon to facilitate learning. It was a part of insight too as it opened a deeper relationship with God.

At university, I found myself a leadership role as the class representative in my Developmental Studies session in my second year studies whereby I always used to find the venue and organize various seminar and find immediate supervisor of each seminars. Also I was a group leader throughout my fifth year clinical rotations such as surgery ad orthopaedics whereby I coordinated various session and organised bedside timetables with my seniors so as to facilitate learning. I have also done research concerning effective of pain medication in alleviating pain caused by dysmenorrhea among of secondary school girls.

Within the community however is where I enjoy exerting my influence as a leader ,because it has helped me to contribute toward the betterment of my society in my own little way .As a mentor at Huruma girls Secondary school I was able to guide young people in terms of professional and academic knowledge and mentoring. Currently I am working with the Nungwe home for the elderly to support them by donating food, clothes and some financial support

Scholarship / Ensuring healthy lives of people - Chevening essay on career plan [2]

Question-Chevening is looking for individuals who have a clear post-study career plan. Please outline your immediate plans upon returning home and your longer term career goals. You may wish to consider how these relate to what the UK government is doing in your country.

Rensponse
I have intended to put the skills the knowledge and skills I have acquired into good use in Tanzania. When I get back to my home I will work with local NGO`s that support public health system. I have worked with them before but after completing my master's degree .I will be able to offer more skills and knowledge than before.
My first priority would be to work in the public health sector, especially the HIV/AIDS programme. In Tanzania, HIV/AIDS is a generalized epidemic with Tanzania in the top 30 in the list of high burden countries.

At first I will take up a position with the national department of health to improve the health system in rural provinces. With the knowledge that I would have acquired ,I will provide leadership and technical knowhow on how to implement on the HIV/AIDS programme, Alongside with the training and mentoring of Doctors and nurses to facilitate the care of the patient with HIV/AIDS

My 3 year plan would be to assist in establishing a clinical care centre for HIV /AIDS care. This project has been in the plan for a long time now but due to lack of professionally qualified people to create and run such unit, It has been a big predicament to make such a dream come true. My newly acquired knowledge on the management of health would enable me to fit in and fill in the gap and assist the local department to fill in the centre. The clinical knowledge of HIV/AIDS alongside with infectious disease that I will gain will be of essential importance in facilitating high quality service to the patient with HIV/AIDS in my country alongside with the complication that arise with it. The centre would be an ideal setting for research project.
This aligns with the one of the top priorities of the UK Department of International Development [DFID],which is to work to ensure healthy lives and promotion of well- being for all people, to ensure healthy lives. Tackle microbial resistance and prioritise neglected tropical disease .
