Writing Feedback / Dress code is an epidemic. Colleges and universities shouldn't have a dress code [4]

Colleges and universities shouldn't have a dress code.

Should colleges and universities have a dress code? Educational institutions are created to inspire students to express themselves as individuals. Being who he or she is what the main focus of a college and university is and the self-expressive notion of dress code is a major epidemic in school. Dress code is just a personality and a communication to others and a signal of who the person is and what he or she stands for.

School is an educational environment but still an adult sense of being. No one should be told what to wear once in an environment of adults or anywhere everyone has a stand out point in their style of clothing. In a college or university everyone is considered an adult and should at .least have the respect of coming as they are and not a made up robot that is controlled by a remote. Being told what to wear is just like being controlled like a robot because the mind cannot think on its own to be yourself its being controlled by a remote.

If someone wants to attend class in bedroom attire and feel comfortable they should be able to. A college or university should be just like church where it is come as oneself and not be judged or frowned upon. America is a place of freedom it is stated in the 1st and fourteenth amendment where people have freedom of speech and rights. The amendment is mentioned because a person's dress code is a representation of themselves with no hidden features just them as themselves. As studies show that enforcing a dress code can prevent students from reaching their creative and self-expressive potential.

Clothes bring out his or her personality and give him or her sense of personal identity. If someone ones identity is taken away, who is he or she? Will he or she be out of their comfort zone? Once someone's identity is taken away from them they no longer recall what he or she stands for. Being taken out of he or she's element is just a lack of functioning for someone who is used to following themselves. How can ones clothing be their personality many people may ask: it is a personal preference of who he or she is and how they conduct themselves by dressing in a certain manner.

Someone's religion can be disrespected just as simply as them being told what type of clothing they should wear. In most class rooms many teachers tell a student to take off their hat or whatever is on their head. For example, in some religions the women are not supposed to show their hair to the outside world only their husbands or households are to see their hair which is a sign of respect to their religion. In many religions the women are not allowed to wear pants, the men are the head of the house hold and should be the one to wear the pants. If a university or college set a dress code policy religious law suits can be expected to be aroused in many institutions. Why would this be so? Because America is a place of freedom and religion is a strong identity in American identities and up bringing as a child and adult life.

Will the university or college be funded by rules of dress code for adults? It is an adult environment and clothing should not be in a dress code policy. Clothing does not make a person learn or give you the urge to think should I go to class or should I do my homework. A dress code makes students not want to attend class because they know that they can't come as they are and represent themselves and do what they are supposed to do without being told what they should wear or should do.

How someone dresses is a communication skill on how people view them and their attire makes a statement. It is a communication skill because it is a first impression on you as a hold and attire says what personality traits him or her carries off in his or her attire. A dress code is against our individual rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of expression, and it violates our civil rights that we are guaranteed as a citizen's of America. In every educational institution there is an in group and out group, which is represented by sense of style. For example, the homosexual groups represent themselves by a mixture of different colors and cross dressing. The models or the in style people come dressed to impress but still do what they have to do. What about the gothic people and their attire and sense of style of wearing black and baggy clothing.

Opposing side: As to the opposing side of this situation some topics that may be brought up is how the reflection of a school may look. Being in dress code does not formally give the school a good or bad look it just looks classier as some may claim. Education is still being taught no matter how he or she is dressed and what type of environment you are in based on clothing. Another argument rose in the opposing paper is that the school being uniformed can decrease sexual harassment no matter what someone's attire is they can still be sexually harassed.. No matter what clothing is worn it's still going to be a case of sexual assault or some case of violence so it should not be a fact of what its worn it's more of physical features.

Educational institutions should not impose a dress code for adults because it should be a place of freedom and a place where you can express yourself. Educational institutions are created to inspire students to express themselves as individuals. A dress code should not be enforced because it does not inhabit him or her from learning and critical thinking. Dress code is an epidemic that will be followed by many in different ways but all falls under personality and peoples personality is what makes him or her different from others.

Scholarship / concept paper on nursing and sociolgy and how they are needed in both fields! [2]

The decision to attend college has embarked many students' minds and questions spark in their mind such as: What can I expect as an individual in a higher educational institution? Is this the correct path for me? How will I survive in this long journey full of disappointment's an outstanding success when all work is fulfilled? Do the curricula present new or ancillary impediments? What are the right tools for a true success story? Every thought haunts an individual wanting to pursue studies at a higher educational institution. How many students are willing to fight the battles that are faced within a better life and more opportunities? Not many it is a proven fact that within many social backgrounds people tend to feel that they are not qualified for the work given and the time and effort that has to be placed in your future.

The economy is defacing and is in for turmoil with fewer jobs and the positions of the higher paying jobs are being filled every day because of high degrees in certain areas of studies. When you complete high school why stop there and work at fast food restaurants for the remainder of your life. That will benefit you for a period of time but when you are living from pay check to pay check it will have you wondering why you did not go further in education.

Most jobs are requiring further education and more training. For example, if you and another colleague go in for a job interview to become a police officer; and you have just a high school diploma or a GED and your colleague has a bachelors and masters in criminal justice and a lot more experience than you do he or she will receive the job because of experience and qualifications they possess. The U.S. has been transformed from a manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education today can be compared to that of a high school education forty years ago. It serves as the gateway to better options and more opportunity.

It is necessary to choose a major in college because it is the key to your career and succession in life. This decision will affect your career in a significant way. Shorten your focus to only specific majors that interests you. You need to know which college offers your subject and then choose the best. Don't choose a major just because it makes a lot of money it should be something you would enjoy doing every day. A major is a must when attending college because it will be pointless of you coming to school and not knowing what your career choice is. When on undecided on your major it is time consuming and costing you extra money in the long run. Your course study is depending on your choice of a major. For example you enroll to be a Nursing student and take a semester or two worth of classes and then in the second year decide that you would rather be a Pharmacist, and then you have wasted that time in school for nothing.

Your major will help you receive your first job after graduation. The choice of a major can build your strength and how you work under pressure. As you progress in your career, you build skills and knowledge that transcended from your choice of major. Your major has to be something you want to do and can see yourself in that position in years to come. Your major is not only important because of your career choice it is what you will become an live, eat, breath and not just a random choice it has to be thought about and researched to make sure you want to pursue in that career.

My selected field of study is nursing. Nursing is a healthcare profession focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life from birth to death. Nurses work in a large variety of specialties where they work independently and as part of a team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Nursing Science is a field of knowledge based on the contributions of nursing scientist through peer reviewed scholarly journals and evidenced-based practice.

Western European concepts of nursing were first practiced by male catholic monks who provided for the sick and ill during the Dark Ages of Europe. Similar models of care were probably practiced by other religious monasteries in the Middle East and in Asia.During 17th century Europe, nursing care was provided by men and women serving punishment. It was often associated with prostitutes and other female criminals serving time. They had a reputation for being drunk and obnoxious, a view amplified by the doctors of the time to make themselves seem more important and able. It was not until Florence Nightingale, a well-educated woman from a middle class family, became a nurse and improved it drastically that people began to accept nursing as a respectable profession. Other aspects also helped in the acceptance of nursing. In 1853 Theodore Fliedner set up a hospital where the nurses he employed had to be of good nature. Many people were impressed with this facility, and because of it, the British Institute of Nursing Sisters was set up.

Nursing focuses on various areas of human development and inhabitant genes. Nursing is the most diverse of all healthcare professions. Nurses practice in a wide range of settings but generally nursing is divided depending on the needs of the person being nursed. Certain specialties are: Psychiatric and mental health nursing, Learning disability nursing, Pediatric nursing, Geriatric nursing, and Home health nursing.
