shock - discovering that if the universe were physically deterministic then this seems to render human freedom as illusory, as all thoughts and actions would be the result of a causal chain of events dating back to before your birth.
apathy - becoming fatalistic, desparing at your lack of autonomy or agency or freedom, feeling like a cog incapable of self directed creative action
liberation - discovering that indeterminism provides a possible escape from this conundrum; creating a break in the causal chain of events/or alternatively reconstruing freedom as the ability to act in keeping with your set of core preferences and beliefs irrespective of fatalism and predetermination
