Writing Feedback / The 20th century has given us inventions that have changed our lives in many ways. [5]

The 20th century has given us inventions that have changed our lives in many ways. Big inventions often overshadow small ones. Write an essay stating whether big or small inventions occupy a more important role in the daily lives of individuals. Give reasons to support your position.

Essay:

The 20th century inventions in technology, science, medicine and many other sectors has transformed our lives, making it easier and interesting then ever before. Big inventions such as jet plane, elevator, mobile phone, ipad, digital camera are more popular than small inventions such as post-it, food processor, vaccum cleaner, tv remote controll. Why so? Why small inventions that makes our daily lives easier are not as popular as the big ones.

Small inventions are often more affordable and necessary. However, it is observed that people are more attracted towards the gadgets that are more expensive and less used; often just a fashionable item. As a mother, I feel small invention such as a baby stroller is crucial in my life than a jet plane. However, a marketing professional whose job involves lot of travelling will find a jet plane more useful . So does it mean that importance of invention whether big or small depends on the user and what role it plays in their lives. It makes sense!

Over the years inventions have helped human race in many ways. People experiment and invent things when there is a need. At times inventions happen by accident and sometimes creative adventure leads to certain inventions. I believe it is up to the user to decide whether they are big or small, useful or worthless, attractive or ugly, meaningful or hopeless. Any invention is a work of art and a fruit of dedication.

Writing Feedback / I love and admire my parents ; Essay on MYSELF [11]

My name is Enkhsuren Tsevegsuren, born on 7th May, 1994. I lived with my family at my birth place, Dashinchileng-Bulgan aimak, until I turned six. I had a very happy and memorable childhood. My father, Tsevegsuren, is 43 and my mother, Enkhtuya, is 44 years old. We are three brothers and I am the oldest one. We are very close to each other. I grew up in a family of cooks and businessmen. I admire my parents for being very kind and hardworking.

In 1999, we moved to Ulaanbaatar city, the capital of Mongolia. I completed my high school and later joined Enkh-Orchlon Institute, after which I decided to study abroad. Hence, I got myself enrolled at Chonnam National University in the Korean language program. I like to study because I believe knowledge is a powerful tool.

My favorite subjects are mathematics, world history and philosophy. I also like to study foreign languages, especially English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. I love to cook whenever I get a chance. I learnt a lot about Korean cooking from my Mom. I think I got it from her.

I am fond of books and I love to read them in my free time. I find history books very interesting. I recollect reading a book last winter titled "You're also a Flower, now Blossom", an essay collection by single mothers. It was a very fascinating book and had a great impact on me. I have become more sensitive towards issues related to children and women. I am now determined to help them.

I often pray. It helps me to remain strong and stay focused on my goals.

Writing Feedback / Thanks to the Internet, the word "friendship" has a much broader meaning now. [2]

Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.
Thanks to the Internet, the word "friendship" has a much broader meaning now. No longer are the bonds of friendship limited to telephone conversations, shared activities, or speaking face-to-face. In this day and age, very close friendships can be formed without the people ever meeting and by simply typing words on a screen.

Adapted from Sharon Hendricks, "A Broader Definition of Friendship"
Assignment: Is it easier now than ever before to form friendships? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your reasoning with examples taken from your reading, studies, experiences or observations.

ESSAY:

Internet has become a crucial part of our lives. We are getting more and more dependent on this technology. The benefits of internet are not just limited to various professional needs. Personally, internet helps people around the globe to stay connected with each other all the time.

People who are busy achieving their professional goals while balancing their family lives, internet provides them with the opportunity to not only make new friends but also keep the old ones. However, in my opinion, it might also create a kind loneliness in your life when you don't get to see and hear your friends. I strongly feel that lifelong memories are created when you spend time with your friends doing some fun activities, playing games, dinning out or by just walking on the beach. Long distance friendship can be maintained on the internet once the deep bond between two friends is formed by spending time together. Internet cannot provide you with such experiences.

Friends can share with each other details about their professional achievements, personal milestones, adventure stories on the internet but only when the bonding exist. I believe such real and unique bond cannot happen sitting in front of the computer screen. Real friendships are created by being with each other.
