Writing Feedback / IELTS: Regulation regarding advertisements' unnecessary impact on people's lives [5]
Some believe advertisement is useful and informative. Others think it is false and only helps to raise prices. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Adverts dominating the universe today; companies make sure that their product advertisements reach to people through various communication mediums such as internet, television, billboards, etc. Many argue that these advertisements are invaluable with its informative contents, however, it is refuted by others. Both sides will be critiqued before a well-reasoned conclusion is found.
Firstly, advertising about a product makes it popular among masses. It is always advisable that when a new item launch in the market, respective advertisement should be aired before to make it appraised among the people. Most of the advertisement will be short on time, but descriptive enough to afford the complete details of the product it is trading. For example, the movie trailers, which give a glimpse of the movie with a few good scenes, but without giving away the main story. One other advantage of advertisements is that they will help to increase the competition among the wares, thus close to a gradual rise in product's quality. All these points make the advertisements relevant in the modern world.
However, there is another pool to argue that advertisement can be misleading with false information. For instance, fairness product advertisements which portray the person with dusky or dark skin will have difficulty in finding jobs or getting married. These advertisements are not only misleading but also can create racial insecurities among people. Likewise, some advertisements have become not suitable for kids, particularly the body spray ads, due to its explicit contents. Adding to that, the advertising is a costly affair; the company adds a fraction of the advert's cost to the product's selling price, effectively make it costlier than its real value. All these details make it clear that advertisements have a negative impact on people's lives and it need to be regularized.
After examining both sides of the advertisement debate, it is hard to not to side with the more relevant thought of regulating the advertisements with its contents and avoid unnecessary impact on people's lives. It is hoped that the Government will bring these regulations in swift basis and avoid any future harms.
