Graduate / Self Assessment Essay for application a position at Risk Advisory in Deloitte [3]

I am applying a position which requires a self-assessment concerning merits and career goals, which is quite similar to some essay questions for Entrance of Master Degree. Hope I can get some help from you guys, Thanks.

Please prepare a short paragraph to describe your merits and what career objectives you want to achieve in Deloitte. No more than 300 words

my priorities within the next few years

As a senior undergraduate with multi-internship experience including selling-side in finance (Haitong Securities IBD), Assurance Service (PwC Audit) and equity investment (Iron Investment Dept. at Fosun), I find it fun in the end that consulting actually attracts me most with its case-based business transaction, team-orientated working style and never-stop-learning spirit which is the reason why I want to pursue a position at Risk Advisory in Deloitte.

Through my leader role in a volunteer organization concerning environment protection in college as well as several projects that require interpersonal and communication skills, I realize that teamwork spirit is equally important to leadership inside a group of peers who are trying their best to get a case done for it is already a tiring process to handle massive workload and deliver a solution in a short of time with someone you are familiar, let alone the suffering of putting up with someone who does not deserve one's utterly trust.

In respect of my career plan in Deloitte, accumulating experience through researching and analyzing data as well as assisting in presenting pleasant final solutions towards our clients will be my first priority within the next few years. An ideal assumption of me three years from now would be a senior associate with strong working experience focusing on a large cap of risk advisory transactions in respect of Business Risk in certain industries.

Scholarship / Case Western Alexander A. Treuhaft Memorial Scholarship Essay [3]

Positive thinking, I hope these pieces of advice will help you a bit.

1. Use phrases like "identify the source and get rid of it" to prevent from repetition and misleading.
2. For so many years, especially in the treatment , is there some kind of diseases or some kind of treatment you want to emphasize or the use of "especially" is redundant.

3. The overall structure could be more careful in order to make the argument more compelling, for e.g. try Problem + the idea of developing a solution through interning in clinic + thorough explanation of the solution by looking at the problem anew (identifying the source)

Based on the feedback from participants who joined previous activities and the invaluable experience ...

Judging from the review and performance of each participant, we were able to argue that such a move ...

Further, when I chose to fully commit myself to a master degree and selected Durham as my next destination, I found myself lucky to be able to fight for a chance to spend my next 10 months working with and learning from 130 high-achieving peers who, I strongly believe, will spare no effort striking for betterment and leaving an impact just like me.

If the admission office deemed me capable and a fit towards MMS program, I'd like to deliver comprehended skills and capabilities into further building this growing program by fighting for a leading position in the MMS Association and creating a new student club focusing on volunteer activities and social entrepreneurship with students who are interested in engaging in community events and outdoor activities to get away from demanding and rigorous curriculum from time to time. Also, I want to contribute to the annual campout as a graduate Usher helping out the graduate students who haven't experienced the camping life out of the Cameron with team spirit obtained from my previous experience. After all, one's life wouldn't be intact at Duke until he has spent time with all the Dukies rooting for the home team!

As John Maxwell's saying goes, the measure of a leader is not the number of people who serve him but the number of people he serves, which is exactly how I'd like to do as an MMS student.

Thanks for your advice, but the thing is this essay has a word limit of 500 word, which means if I want to sharp my current one and develop further, I have to cut the previous a lot (I suppose I could do so and especially the describing part of former activities). I will be working on it right now and maybe could come up with something better later.

Graduate / A list if 25 random lists of Duke MMS (Still unfinished) [8]

1.I was born and raised in Taizhou, a small town located in southeastern coast of China, which makes my childhood full of fresh seafood and plenty of chances to swim.

2.It's funny that we commonly use three languages to chat in my family at the same time including Mandarin, English and local dialect as both of my parents are fluent English speakers.

3.My father was so busy when I was a child that he was always unable to be with my family during Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival in China until I was 12, which left me the responsibility to take care of mom since childhood as she knows nothing but teaching high school English.

4.My Dad has two brothers, both of whom had only one girl while my mom has got two sisters who all gave birth to a boy, making me the only connection between the two big families.

5.My star sign is cancer, representing a primary focus on family and a strong perseverance of insisting in something I believe, such as being a father in the future for I utterly like kids.

6.I enjoyed the experience of being a uncle as early as 12 when the oldest cousin of mine had a son that year. Though I liked that kid so much, he kept crying t whenever I held him, which is a puzzle I am still confusing.

7.I don't know about others, but I am quite proud to have several great friends who would go through fires and water for me if needed.

8.I haven't seen my two best friends in person for almost a year due to tight schedules of all the internships. Fortunately, we will meet this Christmas back in my hometown as everyone is coming home this year.

9.I am absolutely crazy about The News Room, the HBO episodes written by Aaron Sorkin discussing Morality and commercialization of Journalism which from my perspective, are the best TV series I've ever seen. I have literally watched the entire 3 seasons for five times !!!

10.Do not doubt the seriousness of me being a huge supporter of Houston Rockets, I can recall nearly every game in the playoffs over last three seasons, although I was heartbroken when heard Dwight Howard was leaving the team several months ago.

11.I've formed a hobby of collecting Basketball sneakers since primary school, which has been complained by my mom all the time as I took up 90% place of our cabinet and still wanted more!

12.Never test my resistance towards bolognaise spaghetti, I failed it every time！
13.My favorite book stays as The Island for years, a debut novel by Victoria Hislop, the story of four generation Petrakis women which always reminds me to be the savior of my own life, never complaining, never giving up.

14.I a fanboy of Apple products, from the oldest Ipod to the brand new MacBook Pro, I've got myself fully of Apple's devices around.

15.I've always been dreaming about driving Life Cycle like Garrett Hedlund did in Tron: Legacy with a girl sitting in my back seat, as sunrise shines. (Anyone?)

16.I was obsessed with Cartoon as a child with the favorite one being Slamdunk, which I believe plenty of striplings do share with me.
17.Can anyone state the differences between the Espresso, Latte and Cappuccino served in Starbucks in one sentence? I do. Cappuccino equals Latte with some sugar and cream while Latte could be easily accomplished from Espresso with a bit of milk.

18.I said ambitiously to my teacher at kindergarten that I want to be a professional basketball player or a F-1 racer, if both did not strike out, I may consider doing business, now I wish I had said the other way around.

19.I haven't got my driving license yet and it is mainly because my mother knows I am born to drag driving, but the thing she doesn't know is that I've been secretly driving my dad's car for more than 10 times when I was fifteen.

20.The best wine I ever tasted is a bottle of Riesling with citrus fruit flavor that I bought in Adelaide, Australia. (Year, I am more like a girl when it comes to wine).

21.The longest and the worst flight I've ever taken lasting about 16 hours which was from Shanghai to a city southeastern in America while transited in Dallas.

22.I was one of the few candidates who were both selected by PwC LEAP and KPMG Elite program among thousands of applicants in Shanghai last year.

23.The most impressive church I've ever visited is Notre Dame de Paris, although Victor Hugo should take most of the credit of it.

@Holt I've cut several unrelated ones and about the final on referencing Duke, I think it is the appropriate way to end the essay as I went through all the lists post by Duke MMS directors and Current students, it is 100 percent a negative move if you include some info regarding the School or the program.

1. For our MMS: Foundations of Business class, the Admissions team is looking for students who are eager to engage with, and learn from, their classmates. This learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom, as extracurricular engagement is an important part of the MMS: Foundations of Business experience. Describe how you would plan to be engaged outside of the classroom, and how your unique perspective, experiences, and passions will add to the MMS community.

2. The MMS: Foundations of Business program is developing leaders who are able to effect change in the communities of which they are a part. Share a time that you were able to make a change in your community: at school, at work, or at home. How will you use the lessons you learned and skills you developed from this experience as an MMS: Foundations of Business student?

As I went through briefly in the extracurricular involvement section, starting Early May of 2014, I along with 4 other team members, took over a volunteer program, "Pioneers for environmental protection" under guidance from a non-profit group, during the time I acted as the one in charge and was responsible for organizing a series of events while keeping in touch with the volunteer group I mentioned above.

During the succeeding eleven months, our team organized more than 10 times of volunteer events, each of which consisted of preparation for not only undergraduate volunteers but also kindergarten kids. You may wonder why an environmental subjected event involved kindergarteners and here comes the explanation.

Based on the feedback from participants who joined previous activities and the invaluable experience provided by our seniors, we reached a conclusion that the combination of children and undergraduate students might be more welcomed in such an environment subjected activity than young adults alone. Then, after several times of discussion with the employees from that organization, we decided to redesign the demographic composition of by having around 10 undergraduate volunteers and the same number of kindergarten level kids each time, which have become the standard for the following events as the first-time strike went quite well.

Judging from the review and performance of each participant, we were able to argue that such a change did work out. We not only received acknowledge from residents living in the communities which were our main battlegrounds but also won praise from the parents whose kids had taken part in the events which, from my perspective, is the best testimonial we ever achieve. Moreover, this experience sharply enhanced of my leadership and interpersonal skill as offered me a platform to exert impactive power, assuming the responsibility of overseeing the monthly-based events and allowed me to effect change during the procedure.

More interestingly, when I finally decided to devote myself in the post-graduation and chose Durham as my next destination, I found myself quite lucky to be able to fight for a chance spending my next 10 months in such an innovative environment where, without doubt, I would encounter high-achieving peers and world-class faculty members whom, I strongly believe, are just like me, trying their best strike for betterment and create an impact.

If I had the honor to be admitted to Fuqua MMS program, apart from the demanding and rigorous curriculum, I want to deliver my developed teamwork spirit and leadership learned from volunteer activities to become a cornerstone of the overall community, especially for student life experience during our spare time, for e.g., I want to be a graduate Usher in the annual campout helping out the graduate students who haven't experienced the camping life out of the Cameron. After all, your life wouldn't be intact at Duke until you've spent time with a bunch of Dukies rooting for our home team! What's our slogan again? Work hard, play hard!

1. I've been to seven countries ranging four continents, leaving Africa the remaining one to explore. And among all the cities I've been to, the best one to live the rest of one's life, from my perspective, is Melbourne, not only owing to the graceful sceneries nearby but the pleasing pace of life.

2. My father was so busy when I was a child that he was always unable to be with my family during Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival in China until I was 12, which left me the responsibility to take care of mom since childhood who knows nothing but teaching high school English.
