Scholarship / I intend to work in Korea for a few years - future plan after study - KGSP [2]

Here is my future plan for KGSP. please give me your comments on this. Thank you in advance.

future plan in Korea or another country after study in Korea.

During the period of three years as a graduate student, not only I will be gaining the knowledge from lectures but also experience the global diversity within the class as the class is comprised of students from different parts of the world with a wide range of business and cultural backgrounds. This will help me to enhance my awareness on multiculturalism. Apart from that, the high quality education, unique cultural experiences and both Korean and international perspectives on business and life will definitely be an upper hand in my future career.

Therefore, upon the completion of my master studies, I plan to work in Korea at least for two years as it would complement my studies and hence I can apply the knowledge I acquired through this program. At the same time, I want to show my gratitude towards the Korean government for giving me this precious opportunity. I also think getting working experience in Korea will be a good turn in my career path as an international business graduate. It will help me to put into practice what I have learnt at the university while expanding my knowledge on East-Asian business world in a more practical manner.

I aim to get employed by a multinational company in Korea such as Samsung, LG, Lotte and etc. Given my interest towards administrative service management, I will assist the company with efficient operations and services as an administrative manager. With the rapid change in everyday business world, it is important for administrative managers to stay up to date on developments in the business and office environment. Hence, I believe that the knowledge I gained through global MBA combined with my bilingual ability will certainly be beneficial for the company.

On the other hand, the practical experience I will be acquiring from working there will bear a hand in fulfilling my long term goal to be a successful entrepreneur after returning home. The analytical skills, the ability to oversee operations and effective people management skills generated by working with a large array of people as an administrative manager will lay the foundation to start up my own business.

Having engaged in my mother's dress making business has stimulated me to initiate my future business in the fashion industry. Moreover, my business mind has detected the business opportunity that has arisen with the wide spread of hallyu wave in my country. Besides it has made people into K-pop and K-drama, Korean cultural wave has also led people to embrace Korean fashion trends and Korean food. Therefore, I plan to establish an import and export business related to fashion industry between Korea and my country in the future. I am positive that working experience in Korea will be an enormous assistance in carrying out my future plans in terms of network building and saving money for future investments. I hope there will be flexible network building opportunities during the course of my dealings in Korea. At the meantime, I intend to strengthen those networks by attending business functions, forums and also through university alumni because network is everything in Korea. My prime wish is to contribute to both countries' economy via this business.

I am anticipating eagerly to get a lot of cultural as well as academic experiences by participating this KGSP program. I am sure this opportunity will definitely brighten my future. Thus I will do my best to help the society as well as to develop the mutual friendship between countries with a thankful heart.

Graduate / Persevering my dream. Self Introduction Letter for Graduate School. [5]

@pb1013
I think you don't need to mention your name and age as you will be mentioning it on your application.
I believe it is better to mention just about your dual degree program without telling how you got it. I mean the discussion about phone calls and meetings with your university is not something that the reader is interested about.

I think you can use your exposure to cultural diversity as a plus point as it will be helpful when you start studying in Korea. like you can mention that you will be easily get used to new culture.

hope this is helpful. good luck

Graduate / Self introduction for Master degree in different field from undergraduate degree. [5]

@jewjewmabushii

You can say those two sentences in one sentence - When I was 12 years old, I met a Japanese man who lived next to my home.

According to my opinion, I think the 2nd paragraph is not necessary. I feel you wrote it to get started about your career in fashion industry. I think you should keep it short and directly connect it to how you got the job because of that fact because it is quite unclear.

I feel that the discussion about your career is too long and try to explain why you chose your current job which has no relevancy to your bachelor's degree.

hope these will be helpful.

Scholarship / Culture is something that I am really interested in. KGSP - Goal of study and Study plan [2]

Here is my study plan draft. I haven't fully completed it yet and still working on it. I need your advises to continue this and hope you will review my study plan. Below are the guidelines.

Goal of study, tittle or subject of research and detailed study plan.

Please don't just copy and paste from this as I experienced it for my self-introduction letter. anyway thank you in advance.

I am planning to pursue global MBA program during my stay in South Korea as a KGSP scholarship awardee. The goals of my study can be mentioned as to enhance my fundamental knowledge I acquired from my undergraduate studies, to improve my English language proficiency and to be fluent in Korean language and to obtain practical experience by interning in a Korean company.

As I have already mentioned in my self-introduction letter, culture is something that I am really interested in. It is one of the most important obsessions in a country and it takes place according to the traditions which are coming from the past and it keeps changing over the time. These cultural factors mostly affect like a chain to businesses and consumer behaving patterns. Therefore, my research will revolve around the topic of the culture in an international context. To be precise, I will conduct my research study how national cultures affect organizational cultures and how it affects the staffing approaches of multinational companies and ultimately its impact on the performance of business.

My initial plan is to select a Korean multinational company and study about the Korean national and organizational culture. However, I will consider whether to choose two or more countries which have high context cultures and low context cultures in order to represent the cultural diversity among countries with the guidance of my research adviser. Geert Hofstede's cultural dimension will be used to analyze cultural differences and will talk about staffing approaches of ethnocentric, polycentric and geocentric staffing policies. Eventually, I will address about how the chosen staffing policy has impacted on the performance and what steps the company has taken to improve cross cultural literacy among expatriates.

Scholarship / Photography and computers were my fields of interest since my childhood. Self Introduction KGSP 2017 [19]

@aliabid
I think you have

@aliabid
sorry for the earlier comment. It was posted accidentally before I complete it. Actually I was going to tell that your revised essay is better than the first one. but sorry to say that I find some similarities with mine.

I am interested in learning Korean as another language which is also a plus point for engineering major student. Unfortunately, my bachelor's degree program did not have any module for language learning which I think as a disadvantage for us. Therefore, I want to learn Korean language while experiencing Korean culture because as I think, a different language is a different vision of life.

especially I think you have completely copied and pasted above sentences from my essay. I hope you will edit and try to write out with your own words what is inside your heart. it is good to get a little idea by reading others.but don't just copy and paste others. and yes good luck with your application.

Scholarship / Korean dramas and K-pop - letter of self introduction...KGSP scholarship [4]

Hello, I am planning to apply for KGSP graduate scholarship and is required to provide a letter of self introduction.this is the first time I wrote something like this.I kindly request your help with this. below are the guild-lines.

Thank you in advance.

couple words about myself in a letter format

I was born into a middle class family where we live in ____ which is a village situated in ___ District, the commercial capital of ___. I was an active and friendly person since my childhood where I participated school sports and dancing competitions and events. I was a member of school physical exercises team which we won gold medal in 2006. I could give my contribution to the school as a prefect as well.

I passed my Advanced Level examination (A/L) with 4A's in commerce stream in 2012. It was at that time I thought that I need to focus more on my future. I always want to do something different when I do something. Hence, I searched about undergraduate courses that a commerce stream student can take up. Consequently, I found out about international business major which was not very popular major in my county and only offered by one public university at that time. Therefore, I enrolled into ___ which is a semi-governmental and the first ever green university in South-Asia in order to pursue my interests. The degree was offered by university ___, UK where English was the language of instruction. As I was following a foreign degree, some of our lectures were given by foreign lecturers themselves. It was great opportunity for us as we were studying International business major. After three years of study, I officially graduated on January this year with a first class honours. And also, I followed a certificate course in HRM during my summer vacation which I received the outstanding achievement award for my performance.

It is true that Korean dramas and K-pop made me interested in South Korea. But what made me fell in love with South Korea is its culture. Even though both countries are Asian countries, there are slight differences in their value systems like __ being a South Asian country while South Korea being an East Asian country. According to an assignment I did during my undergraduate life I found out that the long term orientation is the most contrasting cultural dimension between my country and South Korea. I can admit that because the remarkable work ethics of Korean workers are known to be the factor of their success which is something not easily replicable as it is deeply ingrained in their culture. This cultural interest has led me even to engage in different Korean cultural activities. I have attended Korea festival organized by KOICA and I participated in Kpop world festival organized by Korean embassy both in 2015 and 2016 where I could get a lot of different cultural experiences. I have even tasted several Korean food. These made me realize that South Korea is such an interesting country and wanted to experience these things in first hand. This answers why it has to be South Korea. At the same time I am very confident that I can handle the culture shock and survive in South Korea better than any other country.

When moving onto the KGSP program, there are several reasons why I need to be a KGSP scholarship awardee. As an international business major student applying for global MBA program, it is beneficial for me to get different cultural experiences because the curriculum itself has an international orientation. I think it will also help me to accomplish my goal to work in a multinational company. The one year Korean language program is my second reason as I am interested in learning another language which is also a plus point for international business major student. Unfortunately, my bachelor's degree program did not have any module for language learning which I think as a disadvantage for us. Therefore, I want to learn Korean language while experiencing Korean culture because as I think, a different language is a different vision of life. Apart from those, I think South Korea being the center of Asian business will help me not only to gain knowledge about booming Asian business but also to understand global business worldwide. South Korea as one of the Asian tigers has many lessons which will be helpful for the growth of my country's economy. I hope I will be able to give my contribution to the development of my country from the knowledge I will be gaining through this program. At the same time that knowledge will assist me in carrying into effect my dream of starting up my own business in the future.

Armed with these goals and dreams, I have decided to apply for global MBA program to acquire an in-depth knowledge. I truly believe that by getting this KGSP scholarship, I will get an invaluable experience that will help me to attain my goals and to expand my potential in the future.
