Essays / Chevening Scholarship - can I put a former employer as a reference? [2]

Hi,

I'm applying for Chevening, and I have been asked to provide two references. My current employer will be my first reference. As for the second, I'm thinking of providing the details of my former employer from when I was working part-time while studying for my Bachelor's degree. I've been out of school for over 2 years and I'm not in contact with my professors (nor was I very close to them), however I had a good relationship with my former employer. Do you think this is a good idea?
