The charts compare the percentage of students who graduated from secondary school in Australia who were unemployed, employed, or in further education over the course of 20 years.

Overall, the proportion of students who continued studying in Australia decreased constantly. The opposite trend was true for the proportion of Australian secondary school graduates. In addition, there was a slight fluctuation in the proportion of people who graduated without a job from secondary school.

In 1980, around 50% of Australian secondary school graduates were in further education, this figure declined significantly to about 37% in 2000. Besides, the proportion of students who graduated had a job accounted for 40%, this figure increased gradually to 50% in 1990 and, 55% in 2000.

From 1980 to 2000, there was a slight fluctuation in the percentage of people who were jobless after graduating from secondary school and reached a peak of 12% in 1990 in Australia.
