Book Reports / "Meditations on first philosophy" by Rene Descartes - Philosophy paper [NEW]

I disagree with certain idea and issue Rene Descartes argues about in his passage. His beliefs of skepticism at points were valid at times but every human has a right to believe, do anything or create what they want to believe in their mind. To make it feel real is up to the person because we control our emotions which control our mind set to think if we are being trick to having ten fingers or to believe there is no god that created this world we call earth.

The scope of knowledge in this reading "Meditations on first philosophy" by Rene Descartes is the truth of doubt. Doubt causes people to believe that you do not know something when you actually do. For example in the passage stated "So today I have expressly rid my mind of all worries and arranged for myself a clear stretch of free time." But, in reality stated by Rene Descartes "but to accomplish this, it will not be necessary for me to show that all my opinions are false, which is something I could perhaps never false, which is something I could perhaps never manage." This conveys to the readers that he does not need to doubt himself from his worries because it all in his mind which means he cannot prove to a soul that he is not worried about anything.

Skepticism makes a person questions ideas toward multiple things such as knowledge or opinions that are stated as if it is true like facts. Rene Descartes argument for skepticism is to not believe every doubt that you give yourself. In his words "withstand all doubt because the evidence of our senses sometimes misleads us, it does not provide a secure basis for knowledge. We cannot be certain that we are awake and not dreaming." His argument can be argued because people have senses that can guide them to doubt themselves by the way people talk to them or other people actions. Doubt is not always misleading because doubt can save people time or even save a life for example if a person says I doubt I can cross a highway with a blind fold on. Mostly likely they cannot because the mind knows what is real and what is not real to the person thoughts.

The knowledge that I have given to this argument was that you can detect yourself when you feel you are doubting your knowledge in your mind because our bodies are connect to our minds which means our senses knows what is happening, what you are thinking and the questions you are making up that is seconding guessing yourself. This conveys that our knowledge is only judge by our self which prove to the body that we are sitting down by a fire, or that we are texting our friends when we are bored. People have knowledge that can range differently because of our mind set. But Rene Descartes tries to prove that we cannot be here on this earth and why do I have a mouth or a nose. This cannot be proven by anybody because we do not know if even our lives are not real and control by evil people to trick humans.

Rene Descartes weird conclusion about there being no god is his theory. But, instead he thinks there is a malicious demon with power to control the human body. Rene Descartes has no evidence to prove there is no god. Rene Descartes is portraying to the audience that the world is a video game that has a bunch of obstacles that needs to be accomplish in order to avoid a spirit called "the devil" that makes living horrible. I believe Rene Descartes does not believe in any religion because of the crazy theories he have that can never have a reasoning to support.

Hence, I believe doubting one's self is a logic of knowledge because of the books people read or the television they watch that give a lot of information to take in. every person has their own belief, religion and thoughts to pretend their mind is being control by devils or even god. Rene Descartes made theories that could never be proven. The mind of each people varies base on the knowledge they accumulate in order to realize if certain things are real or imaginary.

Book Reports / the book "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia (AP report) [2]

The message that was shown in the book Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez was represented by symbols. This work of literature guides the audience to reveal secrets about the characters objective on each page. Over the course of the book, there were a plethora of events that had symbols to help the reader understand the text. A symbol that has a powerful affect on Florentino and Fermina relationship was the letters they wrote each other to connection and convey ones emotions. The letters symbolizes how their love travels while being miles away from their soul mate. However, the use of the letters gave Florentino ambition to get the woman that he really wanted over all his previous lovers, that hinder him to realizes that she was the one all though the years. Marquez leaves the audience to convey that if you love a person, you need to go after the love of your life because you only have one life to live.

Another symbol of Florentino and Fermina love was the yellow flag that was rise by the captain on the boat at the end of the book. It exposes to the readers that Fermina and Florentino

He can die at peace with Cholera knowing he has her on his side.

Hence, the symbol of the letters supports the symbols of the yellow Flag. These symbols come together to each other perfectly.
