Undergraduate / issue of importance (Multiple sclerosis)-needs editting and some points [2]

Personal Essay 2
Choose an issue of importance to you-the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope-and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.

"Multiple sclerosis a term I wasn't aware of until my cousin's wife was diagnosed of it. She was diagnosed of it a year after her marriage in the year 2002. ever since she has been suffering from this disease. Since it wasnt widely addressed in India, my family was unaware of this disease. My aunt and uncle went through a traumatic condition at first as they were unaware of such a disease. I was in grade 5 when I found out that my my cousin's wife was ill. She loved the company of children and was a very active person. At first I thought she was going to be alright. It took me two years to figure out that it was going to be there forever.

My cousin was very supportive from the beginning. But my aunt and uncle were afraid of their son's future. they thought that it was a contagious disease and her life was endangered. As a young girl I was shocked at first at the reaction of the people around me. They seemed quiet oblivious to the fact that a young girl at her twenty's was suffering from a disease which is rare in India. the doctors weren't able to explain the cause and effect of the disease and said it could be due to genetic disorder. The development in medical field wasn't as profound as it is today in India. her situation worsened within a period of time. During the beginning stages she didn't have frequent nervous attacks and was able to walk and talk clearly. However the doctors prescribed her of steroids at an early stage which made her very weak internally. She used to get muscle spasms and at times unable to swallow food. Yet she never had a frown on her face. She was ever charming and cheered up when she saw us around. We both loved each others company and it hurt me to see her in such a condition. She was cornered in her bed and her body was as stiff as a stick. She couldn't move her hands or feet and was constricted to the four walls of the room. She got up just to use the restroom and had to use a wheel chair to move around.

I couldn't bare to see my cousin and his wife suffering like this. My cousin had to portray to be strong so that he could assure her that everything would be alright. People around us thought she was going to die soon and it was something like cancer. They started persuading my cousin to get remarried and. It was then I realised how such an issue needed to be addressed. I was shocked at their irrational behaviour. However my cousin gave no ear for such comments and continued to support her. She is still suffering from it but the support of her family and husband cheer her up.

thanks!

Undergraduate / An issue of importance to and its significance (Terror strikes) [3]

Need help with the essay!has to be proofread.im not sure if i have answered the question exatly.

Choose an issue of importance to you-the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope-and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.

We talk about being non violent and preach to the world about practicing peace, maintaining friendly relations with our neighbouring countries. In reality do we follow it?the latest attack in mumbai, india on november 26 has taken many innocent lives. Combatting terrorism has become a difficult task. Unless we are affected by it we do not realize the intensity of the situation. Mumbai, one of the busiest and commercial places of india is shattered by this incident. We blame the political parties for their negligence. But 'we' fail to think of a remidial for the security of the people.

the political circus will now begin. They say that this tragedy shall be yet another electoral card. They say that this too shall be forgotten. They say enough is enough. They say we need to do something.

But are THEY going to tell us what we should do?
The intrepidity of the terror unleashed on our Mumbai has left us shell shocked. Across the globe millions of Indian hearts resonate in sympathy and support for our Mumbaikars. We stand united...in condemning and criticising.

We condemn acts of violence, we proclaim our hatred for terrorists. Our army, navy, RAF, NSG, ATS, media and doctors are spending sleepless nights working for our people.

But as India bleeds for the eighth time this year, what is her desperate plea to her citizens?

She asks us to be shoulders for those who have lost loved ones, to help ensure that everyone you know is safe and well and to be beside those who are away from home and worried for family and friends in Mumbai.

This isn't India's first terror strike and it surely won't be the last (unless we figure out how to burn out every root of every form of Extremism in India.)

the intelligent and the educated have to think about the flaws in our internal security system. This is not a call to point at the government and say "Look where focussing on foreign and economic policy while neglecting security issues have landed us!" We need to learn about the obstacles faced while installing a fully functional security system. Do you really think it is feasible to install metal detectors and e-cards at our railway stations given just the sheer immensity of the number of people that commute daily, not to mention the frustrating inconvenience which it will cause to the thousands that are in a mad rush to get to work every morning? How do we solve this?

It's easy to condemn, it's easy to criticize. While I do believe that responsibilty for failure needs to be tracked down, pinned and accepted, blindly criticizing the government at this juncture is probably not going to achieve anything, much less drive them to do any more. we debate about such issues and write books and scrutinize into every intricate detail.but in reality we fail to put an end to such attacks.

We have been studying about wars for decades now.it has become part of our history syllubus.fashism to nazism to world war 1 to world war 2 to the american war of independence. Such attacks have had immense impact on us.

it is a vicious cycle.in some situtaions the economy of the nation falls down, which in turn leads to inflation and other economic scenarios which prove to be unfruitful for the people.
