Undergraduate / My job as a volunteer sound technician; RPI Common App [2]
The instructions are to elaborate on an extracurricular activity. The answer must be under 1000 characters and mine is currently at 993 characters. Please give feedback and advice.
Are the sound levels mixed correctly? Did I remember to change the computer slide with the spelling error? These are thoughts I ponder when preparing for my job as a volunteer sound technician. Early on Sunday mornings, I slip behind the sound board at the back of my church and start turning on all the equipment and lights. The huge panel of dials and sliding faders for adjusting sound levels sits before me and I begin to set each to the correct value. I also put together PowerPoint slides for the various songs and announcements. I think carefully about everything I must do to help make the service run smoothly. Soon, the worship team begins to practice their songs. I adjust the volume levels as necessary and tweak the PowerPoint slides until everything is just right. After a few hours, the congregation fills the room and I get a sense of satisfaction knowing that I have everything under control. This activity allows me to meld two elements that I enjoy: technology and music.
