Undergraduate / Needed to do more with my life - Exploring interests at NYU [4]

Feel free to share any thoughts on any particular programs or how you might explore those interests at NYU on any of our campuses.
I have always known that I wanted to major in political science or something related to law, and because of this I tried to engage myself in activities that were not only related to my interest but also related to my future course of study. My school formed a debate team in my sophomore year and I decided to be a part of it. I enjoyed it, but I then took the next year off because I realized that the only reason I was doing debate was to become a lawyer and I had no idea why I truly wanted to be one. I then decided that I wanted to be happy in life and that I could not do something for the sake of doing it because that would neither benefit me nor the people I am supposed to be helping. I needed to figure out what I really wanted to do in life.
The next year I took Morality, which helped me see that we all have a responsibility to be just and help carry out justice. We learned about many of the problems going on in many other countries. In October of 2011, we read a story in class about a girl named Fatima who had overcome troublesome situations in Somalia. She overcame circumcision, gang rape, and family abandonment enough to be able to come to the sates and share her story in order to help others. That same day my teacher, Mr. Kenneth Cooper said, "There are seven billion people in the world. The world does not revolve around you. It is not just about you and you cannot make it all about you." I always known that there were people who were struggling in the world, but not until that day did I realize that I could do something about it.
That was the day that I realized I needed to do more in my life. Up until this time it was always all about Cariann. I only thought about myself, and I did only what profited me. I remembered travelling to Australia as an ambassador that summer and the children that I tutored at Kid Power, and I realized that other people needed me. I then decided to pursuit my dreams of becoming a lawyer, and now do it for the right reasons. I now want to be a lawyer with the hopes of standing and carrying out justice for those who cannot carry it out for themselves, and also helping and changing some of the disadvantages people are affected by.
I know that the NYU's curriculum, specifically in the Global Liberal Studies Program, will help me fulfill my dreams and goals because it is centered on everything I believe in. I not only want to be a lawyer and major in political science, but I would like to double major or minor in international relation because as I was told before, it is not just about me, which can include those around me and the country that I live in as a whole. I also relish the intellectual challenge that the curriculum will bring because I never thought changing the world or at least doing my part would be easy. Also, I know that my public and labor relations skills would be furthered form what I have received from different leadership organizations, and because NYU New York is a global powerhouse and is the center of so many great political and global realms so I know I would be able to reach my full potential here.
NYU is everything I'm looking for in a college because it is unique to me and undoubtedly combines all of my interests, allowing me to do everything I love. I cannot think of anything else that is more perfect for me than the New York University.
