I am applying to UNC as a transfer student but I need help on my essay! Here's the prompt: Please provide a statement (appr. 250-500 words) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.

I really suck at writing and any advice would be great.

As I walked into my academic advisor's office, I never would have guessed that her words would change my perspective. "What I am about to tell you please take seriously." It was just a routine meeting to go over my grades. I never expected for her to play an important role in an important decision I have to make. "Dominique, you have stellar grades. If you can keep them up then I am advising you to reevaluate your stay at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. As a professional, I am telling you that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has greater opportunities that will carry you further. You should contemplate transferring there." I walked out of her office knowing that I have a life-changing decision to make.

The university I currently attend is a good institution but is not the best match for me. I am a Psychology major with a Pre-med track. My goal in life is to become a physician; however my current university does not provide me with the tools I need to be successful. I need intensified classes that are challenging and will prepare me for the rigorous journey ahead. In addition, my resources are limited. At many universities, there are requirements and regulations on who can conduct research. Unfortunately, mine is one of them which means I would not be able to participate in research projects until I become a sophomore. I want to be able to utilize my school to its maximum ability, but cannot.

I am looking for a university that has brilliant academics and will enable me to impact this world in greater ways than I can imagine. I want to learn in an environment that not only teaches in the traditional classroom setting, but goes beyond. In my opinion, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill not only provides the academic and social aspects I am looking for, but provides the options I need to excel.

Overall, UNC suits me better than my current university. I am a motivated student who is ready to learn and research. I want to be provided with greater opportunities that I will take full advantage of. I am ready to impact this world in greater ways than I can imagine.
