My current college, ******** is an extraordinary institution steeped with tradition and academic excellence. It is truly a diverse and eclectic environment. I genuinely believe that all my classmates and friends are destined for promising futures and will aid the advancement of women in all professions. However, I am not convinced that I can grow as an artist and performer at the institution. Frankly, ******** does not offer the major I would like to study. They do have separate majors in music, theatre, and dance. However, trying to participate in the productions and trying to take classes is quite difficult to manage due to the departments contradicting schedules and few available classes. The regional location of my school is also situated in a rather rural area with few places for dynamic artistic expression. Needless to say, I believe that I can greatly benefit from a well structured Musical Theatre program in New York City.

New York City is truly a cultural Mecca. The streets gleam with passion, tears, new beginnings, hopes, and unfulfilled dreams. There is an endless amount opportunities for aspiring performers granted the performer seizes all chances wisely. I believe I can seize these opportunities by learning and growing from all the city offers. In a way, the city serves as a classroom setting. It offers performances, exhibits, internships, excursions, and personality. Some cast the average New Yorker as being hard, cold, and perhaps ruthless. But I see New Yorkers as being compassionate, enthusiastic, and with their eyes forever on the goal. They are visionaries who like to surround themselves with others similar to them so that they can continually challenge themselves and inevitably grow. I want to become part of that community. I want to have the opportunity to culturally expand my views and opinions while simultaneously benefiting from an academic setting.

I would like to transfer into an excellent Musical Theatre because it will give me the necessary tools to become a working performer and a mindful entrepreneur with a viable career. I have spent the majority of my life singing, acting, and dancing in school productions as a serious extra curricular activity. Now, I believe it is time for me to make this concentration and thus devote my college years to vigorous training with an academic setting. At my current institution, the majority of the students interested in music or theatre regard it as a pastime. There are about five vocal music majors in my school alone, and most of them are considering studying other non performance fields post graduation. However, I see it as my profession and my career choice which I am willingly to spend an undue amount of time developing. I would like to be surrounded by other like minded individuals who deem theatre as their priority. I would like to immerse myself in an environment with a multitude of aspiring artists and performers from a diverse array so that I can grow from the relationships. Moreover, I want to have the opportunity to take challenging courses in music and theatre. I believe such courses have the power and the means to mold me into a truly honest and thoughtful performer. I am willing to do homework for the arts and that equates to endless hours of training in dance and voice, as well as delving into various literature. I am determined to become the type of performer that inspired me to express myself in the arts and restored my faith by using artistic expression.
