Letters / Cover Letter for internship with a Member of Parliament [5]

Hello there,

I want to apply for an internship with a Labour MP in his Westminster office in London. However, the position is very competitive. I am currently an undergraduate student and I do not have any relevant work experience. What do you think so far. Do you think this cover letter is good? I think I should include something more specific about the internship and my personal sympathies with the British Labour Party. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

As a politically interested German student I have informed myself about your activities and hereby apply for an internship in your office in Westminster.

I study European Studies and International Relations at the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. Interstate relations within the EU, but also European social and economic policies form the main foci of my degree program. In this context, I am familiar with Europe's cultural and political diversity and gained extensive knowledge of the political system in the United Kingdom.

Due to my interest in politics, this internship would provide me with the ideal opportunity to assist at your office and have a rewarding experience. My excellent communication skills, my work ethic, and my attention to detail make me a great candidate for this position. I perceive an internship in Westminster to be an exciting and useful enrichment.

I am available to you between the 6th of July and the end of September. I thank you for your time and consideration, and look forward to hearing from you again.

Writing Feedback / Do you support it or not? A mall construction in your neighborhood [6]

Will a shopping center make a neighbourhood better? A shopping center will definitely improve the economic status of the neighbourhood by offering jobs and will also raise the prices on the real estate market. Therefore, I would definitely support its construction.

Through the construction of a mall, my neighbourhood will benefit a lot. The job offers will increase and at the same time the neighbourhood inhabitants' income will grow. For example, a wife will get a part-time job because the children are going to school and she is working near her house. A large shopping center offers a large variety of different jobs , suitable for many professional categories: managers, business owners, sales persons, restaurants, maintenance people, and of course the construction project involves lots of people too. Let's not forget another big advantage: working near by your house saves you gas, time and saves the planet so we can be "green" at the same time.

Neighbourhood Real Estate value is another area where we will see improvement. A neighbourhood with a mall is modern and more secure, offering accessibility and jobs. With all these advantages come opportunities. Hence, the value of the house will rise and the status of the residents will grow too. Now, instead of $100.000 for 2 bedrooms house you will pay $200.000 and some, for example poor people, prefer to sell and move for a cheaper neighbourhood and some with more financial possibilities will take their places. This way the neighbourhood will flourish, and who does not like to live in such a great place?

Constructing a shopping center in a neighbourhood is synonymous with improving and modernizing that area. By increasing the prices of properties and offering jobs, the shopping center will develop a new, modern neighbourhood - one with more opportunities for its population.

This is how I would improve it a bit. I hope it is helpful.

Writing Feedback / Essay on advantages of computer games [16]

When you write that Computer games are a great way to socialise and spend time with friends I suggest you include a contesting view. You can then counter argue this view, backed up by some evidence. This would give your essay much more substance. If you do not wish to do that, you should at least be more specific which kind of computer games you mean, because many games can only be played on single player mode.

Essays / How to write essay about teenagers / minors (who complain they are being treated like children) [5]

Hey,

I think you could mention puberty. The transition from a child to an adult is not easy to deal with for both teenagers and their parents, who were used to treat their children as children and find it difficult to adapt to the new situtation. I hope this helps!
