Scholarship / I do believe in maximizing my potential for success. Major experience and its influence on me. [3]

Im in quite a situation here. My response has to be 50 words at most. However, now it is over 100. I need help abridging, or shortening, it. Remember, at most it can be 50 words!

I would alos appreciate any feedback and/or possible revisions to the following essay:

Instructions: Respond to the following prompt with a paragraph.

Prompt: Tell us about a significant experience, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

While I am not an advocate of spreading ones self too thin, I do believe in maximizing my potential for success. As a result, I have put many things on my plate, thus sacrificing both adequate rest and leisure time so that I may lay the groundwork for my future medical career. My epiphany arrived while I was volunteering at a local hospital. I enjoyed being able to make a difference in the hospital's daily routine.

Volunteering in the medical field also gave me some enthralling insights into the mechanics of the treatment process and doctors' decision-making process, ultimately encouraging me to pursue a career in the medical field. My experience ultimately encouraged me to peruse a career in the medical field.

Scholarship / Intriguing Topic: The Surreptitiousness and Nefariousness of the FDA [2]

I would appreciate any feedback and/or possible revisions to the following essay:

Instructions: Respond to the following prompt with a paragraph.

Prompt: What is an intellectual concept that you find stimulating and what does it tell us about you?

How many doctors and pharmacologists would be honest enough to tell you that there are effective natural cures and remedies, even if they stood to loose billions of dollars? Can the average consumer actually see what the real truth is up against? Honest doctors have confessed that prescription medications have deleterious effects and that there are other, more natural substances, like herbs, that can treat and and even cure certain ailments such as diabetes, liver disease, heart disease, and certain cancers. However, the nefarious FDA does not endorse natural cures, as it cannot garner profits from herbs. The FDA tries to engrave the idea that natural is bad for you so that the multi-billion dollar drug industry does not dwindle. Meanwhile, millions of innocent and misinformed people are not receiving the most efficient treatments, and their life might be at risk as a result. As I am a purveyor of honesty, I would like to see human kind benefit from knowing the truth, however harsh. I am also an aspiring physician, so I care about true science not pseudoscience. Accordingly, the uncovering of fraudulent "medical facts" is an intellectual topic near and dear to me.

Scholarship / Changing My Community - Let's Volunteer More! Not only irregularly - help is needed all year round. [3]

I would appreciate any feedback and/or possible revisions to the following essay:

Instructions: Respond to the following prompt with a paragraph.

Prompt: If you could change one thing about your community, what would you change and why?

Why should our youth just clean up their community one or two days a year for community service credits? Do our streets, sidewalks, and parks not get dirty on the other 363 days? Goodness knows the street sweepers are not doing their jobs unless their jobs entails shoving the dirt around. Our schools' community service and service learning programs need to increase their productivity, as our city streets and public areas need a major makeover, not a bandaid. Analogous to this situation would be the thanksgiving day food drive. Why only feed the homeless once a year at the shelters? In other words, why put food in their mouth one day just to starve them the rest of the year. It would be prudent for students to conduct weekly "cleanups" or food drives, as these services are needed year round. People need to eat whether rich or poor, and communities, whether urban or suburban, should be clean and spotless. Consistency is the order of the day.
