letter of Motivation
I believe that anything is possible when worked with zeal and commitment. After completing my basic education, I had set a goal of pursuing higher studies in Politics, History & Geography.
Although I had always academically excelled in my subjects, but my main interest from secondary school was mostly Civic Studies and History. I found the implications of these subjects very intriguing and thought-provoking. On completion of my Higher Secondary school, I enrolled at Government College University, Lahore (GCU) in the Bachelor of Art (Hons) in Political Science. Within a few weeks of starting studying politics, I knew I had made the right decision. With my strong research and analytic skills, I not only excelled in academics but also in class debates and discussions. Seeing my interest, I started planning and preparing step by step to enhanced my skills and studies and earn sound knowledge in specialized fields.
I believe that undergrad was the time for me to explore the field of politics & study societies. My Interest in comparative politics and European Studies began during my 2nd semester. Being a cabinet member of QPSS, I organized plenty of talks, read articles and attended a number of seminars dedicated to the field of comparative politics, History, IR and Area Studies. From that, I have increased my focus in this field.
During my second and third year, I had courses such as introduction to politics , and political development, where I learned the very basic of political studies. When I took the elective courses of Political System Analysis and Comparative Politics in my third year, I found the subjects very appealing from the very first lecture. Throughout the course, the evolution and success of European society and political systems immediately grabbed my interest. My interest grew further in studying history, culture and comparative politics. All these interests lead me to my undergrad thesis. My undergraduate thesis are focused on the voting behavior, dynamics and participation of society in electoral process. My thesis are directed to study society, and compare its responses.
I will complete my undergraduate study in July 2022 with distinction, which is a further motivation for me. Besides academic studies, I had also been volunteering for QPPS & Welfare Society for three years, during theses years I attended international conference, grew my network with people who share similar interests and being involved myself in teamwork building activities as well as organizing and participated in leadership roles, which has enriched my undergraduate experience. Besides campus activities, I had worked with local NGOs to strengthen and increase the participation of women in electoral process.
While browsing through the EPS website, I have grown to admire the wide range of courses it offers to make one specialist in this field. Since I plan to pursue a PhD, it would also give me the opportunity to take part in a research projects, and collaborate with policy making institutes during my study. Having the opportunity to learn under the guidance of world-renowned faculty members will be a major stepping stone for my future career. Moreover, I will also be able to continue my affiliations and voluntary activities. I strongly believe that the cultural diversity and student communities of the universities will support me in the successful completion of the program. Studying and engaging in research at the diverse studying setup will allow me to explore the European politics, culture and society in more details and in the future will help me to make significant contributions to the field and community.
