Many facilities are, and unable to provide the care that individuals deal with the after effects of drug use so desperately need because of lack of funding . The severity of this crisis is shown by example of the 991 overdose deaths reported in Phoenix in 2022 a sad reminder of the lives lost and the negative effects on families and communities. These deaths could have been prevented with better support systems, but the current programs, are hindered by resource limitations, strict eligibility requirements, and challenges in meeting the diverse needs of those they aim to serve.
