hello everyone
i need two editorials from the news that commit logical fallacies,,,
can some one help me please because i cant find any :(
thank you
1.) Well at least tell me where you have already looked so that I know not to look there.
2.) Also, please give me a definition for logical fallacy so that I know we are thinking about the same things.
3.) Please list 5 kinds of logical fallacies and tell a little about each kind.
Do those things, and I'll look at some news articles to discuss with you. :-)
I think the best bets are articles of extremely political nature (maybe Wall Street Journal or something like that). Many of the authors use red herrings, etc to mislead their readers.
Appeal to Force (argumentum ad baculum)
In the appeal to force, someone in a position of power threatens to bring down unfortunate consequences upon anyone who dares to disagree with a proffered proposition. Although it is rarely developed so explicitly.
Plagiarized text removed.
The power to refer ordered fallacies in the arguments of others, and to avoid them in one's own arguments, is both valued and progressively thin. Dishonorable intellection keeps us from knowledgeable the verity, and the unfitness to judge critically makes us defenseless to use by those complete in the art of nonsense.

whhhhhhhhhhhhhhy u never helped me
people need some stuff ASAP,,,, and they ask for ur help amd u never help
We tend to help those who actually try - it doesn't seem that you are trying very hard. Kevin gave you a few tips to start you off, but all you did was copy and paste (we don't know if you know what you are talking about). Unless you start showing at least some effort, our help will be useless to you.
i showed him
and ya i copy it and paste it here
because it doesnt have to be my from my mind
he just wanna make sure thaat we r thinkin the same
and i showed him whaat i want
and u never help
because it doesnt have to be my from my mind
No. It should be from your own mind. You should put the ideas and concepts in your own words. If you aren't capable of doing that, then it only shows you have no idea of what you want to talk about. There is no point of discussing things that you don't understand.
Okay, okay, let's all settle down, ha ha. I know this kind of thing can be really frustrating.
One of the moderators must have removed it, because it was content from another site, and we have to be careful to avoid accidental plagiarism.
Now I want to direct you to this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies
If you know the fallacies, you should be able to spot them. It's just like if you know what a metaphor is... if you know what it is, you can recognize it when you see it.
One logical fallacy is "appeal to probability." I think you might be able to find an example of "appeal to probability" when you read about this concept: "someone in a position of power threatens to bring down unfortunate consequences upon anyone who dares to disagree"
What is the author's main argument? Find the logical fallacies in the argument.
If I say you must be trying to get other people to do your work for you, that would ba a fallacy. It would be "appeal to probability." Just because it COULD be that way does not mean it IS that way. Now that you know what "appeal to probability" is, go search for an example of it in that article.
Then, go back to the list and find another one. Learn what it means, and search for it.
