Here is what i have written.
Belonging to a middle class family, my parents always encouraged me to invest in my education. At an early stage of life, I realized the importance of financial independence and how crucial it is to make a comfortable living.
My father is a businessman and my mother is homemaker. My father's business is of Tent arrangement during marriages. So I understood that the business is seasonal and my father earns only half the year when marriages take place and that too only on few dates. My parents always supported me for studying and never involved in business activities. By God's grace, I never had to take any tuition for my studies and I got selected in one of the top 20 government institutes whose low fees was affordable for my family.
I didn't want to be a burden on my family , so along with my college studies, I started giving guitar and synthesizer classes to college students and earned some money which helped me with my living expenses and I didn't have to ask for money from my parents.
Belonging to a business family, I already had a bent for business and management work and wanted to pursue MBA post engineering. I researched, talked to my seniors and gradually realized that if I have to go for full time course, I need to have some financial back up also. My father is already 57 years old and is not able to work like he used to do earlier and Tent business requires a lot of effort and energy, which is difficult at the age of 55+.
Whenever I discuss with my family about the course fee and my plan to leave job and pursue full time MBA, our conversation stops in the middle, followed by a long silence. They always ask me to do what I think is best for my career and not worry about the money. They would try to arrange it from our relatives. But I understand the reality when they simply take deep breath thinking about the high rate of living these days , huge college fees, and no financial support from me during my studies.
So, my plans for MBA postponed as I had to support my family also. I have tried to save some money for them and invested some money for their health insurance so that when I am away from work and pursue my MBA, they do not have to face any financial problems. We will still have to take loan against our home for paying college fees but if I could get a scholarship, some tension would be lesser for me to think about while pursuing my MBA.
The pains and sacrifices they have made, to give me the best they could do, can never be undone but I can still try my best by getting good education and by my sincere efforts to take care of my family without burdening them financially anymore.
My family and I hope that the Scholarship Committee considers my case so that it could be a huge financial and psychological advantage for us.
