Hi, I am Hazel and am new to this forum.
I am not so sure what should I include in the essay as I need to submit a separate personal statement, in which I have already talked about my motivation and qualification for application... So, I decided to talk about my academic achievements and activities here... Any thoughts, comments or critiques are welcome. Thanks!!!
one-page essay where you explain why you feel you are a good candidate.
I am writing to apply to your Scholarships for International Students: The Quota Scholarships for the intake of autumn 2012. I am a prospective graduate of _______, China. I wish to enroll in Master of Science in International Management and have advanced training in the field. Ultimately, I aim to become a business consultant in my home country, China, which is a fast growing economy and will continue to attract more multinational corporations (MNCs) in the foreseeable future. This scholarship will enable me to have education of good quality in International Management and step closer to my dream.
Growing up in a lower class family is never easy. Thanks to my parents' arduous efforts in financing the living expenses and tuition fees for me and my three siblings, I have chance to pursue higher education, and am now on my path to finish my Bachelor degree in Business Administration, major in Finance, with an honor degree.
High academic achievement is one of the ways to reward my parents. After graduated from high school with first prize, together with an award for the student who excels in Mathematics in a batch, I got a governmental scholarship which covers all my tuition fees for university. Starting right from the first semester in university, my academic excellence is recognized by being the awardee of Dean's Honor List. In addition, my achievements in both academic and extracurricular fields also earned me an opportunity to enhance my leadership skill in Honors College.
Except for engaging in academic aspect, extracurricular activities and internships comprise a large portion of my university life. I enlarge my personal network via participation in events planning and organizing. I was the minster of event planning department for photograph society in university for a year, and coordinator for exchange students program for almost two years. Furthermore, being a community volunteer at Red Cross China, I bring happiness and comfort to disadvantaged people by visiting regularly. Internship is yet another way to contribute to my family and the society. It is not only the income that comes along with the work mitigates the financial burden, but the early taste of the real practices in the society does benefit me. It helps me in realizing my career plan to work as a business consultant in the future.
Given my history of commitment to excellence, I am confident that I will enrich the program with my self-motivated and open nature. Furthermore, my background as an international student can bring even more diversity to your program and learning environment.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your favorable response.
Sincerely yours,
