"Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flow charts. It is about one life influencing another." John C. Maxwell.
For me, leadership is being able to influence other people, change their lives for the better. My first experience of demonstrating such leadership skills occurred during my undergraduate education. Being a second year student with worthy English language skills I conducted private English lessons for future university applicants having faith in their potential, working closely with them and seeing them graduate high-school with significant achievement and a renewed sense of self-belief. This was an unforgettable feeling when you direct students to the right way and could see their progress and finally the result of their hard study - entering the university. This practice taught me that leadership is not only about advantages for a leader oneself, but also about inspiration and motivation of people that are dependent on a leader.
Also, I believe that a true leader must be initiative, responsible and courageous. My work experience has had a beneficial effect on developing such leadership skills as my occupation in bank requires these crucial habits of work. I am employed in National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Republic of Uzbekistan in the department which deals with abroad money transfers in foreign currencies. Various problems occur with the payments in the course of the working process of our department and several times I had the opportunity to display initiative to solve acute problems .For instance, there was a case when a payment from Central Bank of Uzbekistan for a huge amount of money was blocked and didn't reach the beneficiary. My aim was to clarify the situation and promote further execution of the payment order. As a result, I successfully eliminated the problem by negotiating with correspondent banks and other foreign institutions.
In the future I eager to be a greater leader for people around me and for my country and I believe that getting Chevening Scholarship and education in the UK is the key for forthcoming young leader like me as I will gain great knowledge and meet the same motivated leaders from around the world.
Thanks in advance.
