Hi, I want to apply the chevening scholarship and i would like to have some feedback about my essay. Thanks!!
Since I was a child, my life has been characterized by strong skills of leadership and lots of academic awards due to my effort in all the activities that I did. Firstly, when I only was eight years old, I decided to participate in an electoral campaign at primary school, because I dreamt of improving the technology of my school, like audiovisual resources or the computer's room. Fortunately, I won the electoral campaign with the support of my parents and some classmates who helped me in speeches. Finally, we managed to buy some video players, movies and a family friend helped me to install Windows 98 instead of Windows 95 in the computer's room. It was a great advance in order to improve the student's conditions at my school.
At secondary school, due to my high grades and being the first place in my class every year, I was invited to take part in a set of courses and conferences in the local government of Sogamoso that aimed to train future leaders which I had the opportunity to discuss ideas with students from other schools about how to build a better city in the next twenty years. In addition, I was elected to represent my school in spelling, mathematics and science competitions around the city and the Boyacá department.
When I did my bachelor's and my master's in electronic engineering, I had the opportunity to lead many projects focused on electronic devices and how its devices could help the society in order to improve their life conditions. For example, I worked as research assistant in my master's and I lead a project which involved the development of a wireless device that could help blind people to send messages to smartphones. We got design the electronic circuit and an android app in braille system. Due to my skills to influence, we could contact an institute that helps blind people in Bogota and we managed to show and donate our device to those institute. At the end of my master's, I got the Summa Cum Laude award due to my high grades and I was recognized as a future leader and the best postgraduate student in engineering.
Furthermore, in 2015, I had the opportunity to work at my university as IT consultant together with the mayor of Bogota in order to develop a big project to digitally transform the city in the next eight years and because of my skills of influence and leadership, I was the only engineer of this group to take part into a project the following year focused on develop a virtual office so as to provide to public offices with a better service to people when they accessed to their webpages as a first step to transform Bogotá in a smart city. I was elected by my boss to be the leader of this new group and I had to demonstrate my abilities to lead a social project that involved the growth of the city.
