One quiet afternoon during junior high school, while walking home, I saw several people sitting by the roadside who appeared to have no place to live. I wanted to help them, but I knew I was also living modestly with my grandfather after my parents divorced. The only thing I could offer was the leftover money I had. In that quiet moment, a question arose in my heart: "Could I help them by providing a chance to earn a living on their own?" That simple question has never left me and became a small spark that continues to guide my life's purpose to this day. Since then, I have seen education not merely as an obligation, but as a powerful tool to create meaningful change for myself and those in hardship.
Growing up in a modest household, I learned early on to be independent and to persevere in my education despite financial challenges. I have always strived to excel both academically and in character. In junior high school, I balanced academics with playing basketball. In senior high school, I joined the student council (OSIS) and the English club, serving as secretary, event coordinator, and division member. These roles sharpened my leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. I also joined a student changemaker community, where I participated in discussions and activities promoting positive change among youth. These experiences shaped me into an active learner who remains focused on academic goals while staying socially engaged. I earned the JAWARA Scholarship from PT Pupuk Kujang, the Karawang Cerdas Scholarship, and an award in an English competition. I have also been learning Korean on my own because I am genuinely interested in the language and culture. Even though I am still at a basic level, I believe understanding the language will help me adapt more easily and connect with people around me. These experiences taught me that success is not only about results, but also about perseverance, integrity, and the belief that small steps lead to meaningful impact. I aim not only to succeed, but to help others rise with me.
This purpose led me to seek a higher education opportunity that aligns with both my personal values and professional aspirations. I actively explored scholarship opportunities and found the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). This program embodies values I deeply respect: perseverance, hard work, and global vision. South Korea's ability to harmonize innovation and cultural identity aligns with my ambition to build a technology-based business that improves daily life efficiency and empowers communities. My focus is on digital tools and household technologies that simplify routines while creating employment. I hope to connect innovation with social impact by offering training programs and job opportunities, especially for those facing unemployment or homelessness. In Indonesia, rapid urbanization has not been matched by inclusive job opportunities, particularly for individuals over 30 who have limited access to formal education or digital tools. To ensure real impact, I will offer structured training for new employees to help them understand their responsibilities and develop confidence in their abilities. The program will focus on building basic practical skills, especially for those who previously had limited access to education or job experience. By doing this, I hope to reduce unemployment caused by lack of skills and contribute to poverty reduction through long-term, inclusive job opportunities.
My interest in business began when my family's financial situation worsened during the pandemic. I worked part-time at a doll factory during junior high school and saw how businesses affect both consumers and workers. I realized that well-run businesses can improve lives. This experience inspired me to take business seriously and explore strategy, management, and decision-making. With a degree in Business Administration, I hope to gain the knowledge to build a business that is both financially sustainable and socially impactful.
I chose Keimyung University because its College of Business Administration offers a global, practical curriculum. The program emphasizes leadership and entrepreneurship, supported by industry partnerships and internships. With collaborations across 240 universities in 43 countries and exchange opportunities through the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), Keimyung offers a multicultural learning experience. Its Seongseo Campus blends modern learning with cultural heritage, and services like the International Student Services Center and International Lounge create a welcoming environment. The university's mission to foster ethical global leaders aligns perfectly with my vision of building a business that brings lasting, inclusive progress.
Through the Global Korea Scholarship and an education at Keimyung University, I see a path to becoming a capable individual, equipped for global business challenges. I hope to gain hands-on experience in South Korea, learn directly from its industries, and return to Indonesia to build a business that empowers marginalized communities. My business will provide not only jobs but also training, enabling those previously unskilled to gain confidence and economic independence. Over time, this can reduce poverty and unemployment in underserved areas. For me, education is not merely a route to personal success, but a responsibility to initiate change. GKS and Keimyung University are not only bridges to my dreams, but also the foundation for a life dedicated to uplifting others. Just as one quiet moment sparked my dream, I hope my journey through GKS and Keimyung University will become a beacon of hope for others still waiting for their own opportunity to rise.
