This is an optional essay for my application for admission. I would appreciate feedback and/or corrections.
There may be personal information that you want considered as part of your admissions application. Write an essay describing that information. You might include exceptional hardships, challenges, or opportunities that have shaped or impacted your abilities or academic credentials, personal responsibilities, exceptional achievements or talents, educational goals, or ways in which you might contribute to an institution committed to creating a diverse learning environment.
For my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I attended Industrial High School in Vanderbilt, Texas. At Industrial, I took Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Geometry, and Pre-AP Pre-Calculus. The summer prior to my junior year, my father received a job transfer and in August of 2010, we moved to Woodsboro, Texas. I now attend Woodsboro High School, where they do not offer Pre-AP courses. In lieu of advanced placement courses, my high school offers dual credit courses, courses that I receive both high school and college credit, through the local community colleges. Also, at Industrial, I received a ten point weight on my grade point average for Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Chemistry, and Pre-AP Geometry and a twenty point weight on my grade point average for Pre-AP Pre-Calculus. Since Woodsboro does not offer these courses, I do not have a weight on any of these four courses on my current transcript. Due to the fact that these academically challenging courses are not weighted at my current high school, my grade point average and class rank and lower than they should be.
