Hey guys! I was given a topic to write about but I'm having a hard time for some reason. It says to write something in 500 words or less but so far i have like 100. Any ideas, help or tips is greatly appreciated!

The question is: How will a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences help you achieve your long term academic and career goals?

So far I have this....

I am currently enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technology program at UTB which I plan to graduate in May of 2013. The MLT program has given me not only more knowledge about life sciences and medicine but also quantitative reasoning ability and diverse laboratory science competencies. In the MLT program I learned about several disciplines such as hematology, immunology, microbiology, chemistry, parasitology & immunohematology and their clinical significance to a human.

I want to take this new knowledge and skills and apply them to further my education with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. I know that by earning this bachelor it will open up a whole new world of possibilities into a dynamic field of area that I'm really interested in. This bachelor will give me the necessary tools to be successful research geneticist. I want to continue helping people and humanity as a whole.

Hi!

As the question mentioned, I think it is better if you state about your long term goal more detail. If you want to be a doctor, you can state which field is most interesting or why you decided to be a doctor. I think some impressive comment will be needed which the admission committee can like.

Good luck!!

You should go in more detail how will a B.S of Bio-medical Sciences help you, you briefly discussed in the paragraph about the knowledge you learned as of yet. I suggest you to write how the knowledge will help you in your career goals. Perhaps even pick a few things you learn, and go in great detail with them. You can even discuss why you love the major.

thanks for replying! With this degree i can become a geneticist, either in research or consultant. Im leaning more towards the research side of it. I always hated writing short essays cause i never know what to put like the 2 paragraphs i made.

2 years ago i did 2 essays for 2 separate degree plans and I didn't get accepted and I'm pretty sure it was those horrible essays! lol

My career goal would be to become a geneticist but as far as long term academic goals... wouldn't that be the same thing?

Academic goals would be how far you want to go into acadamia. Like in example you may want to get a masters or a phd, but in your case it would just be the B.S.. My advice is to write in your own words, and try to express your thoughts into paper. Sometimes admissions want to get to know how dedicated and committed you are in your education.
