The University values an educational environment that provides all members of the campus community with opportunities to grow and develop intellectually, personally, culturally and socially. In order to give us a more complete picture of you as an individual, please tell us about the particular life experiences, perspectives, talents, commitments and/or interests you will bring to our campus. In other words, how will your presence enrich our community?
I belong to a land rich in tradition, history and folklore. My land is the land of mystery, of raging battles, of great kings, their magnificent courts and an unending appetite for conquest. However, as we all know, no conquest can ever take place on an empty stomach.
I've grown up in a land known for its tantalizing cuisines, which in spite of its conservative traditions, has welcomed the various cultures of the world. This is evident in our cuisine, which is a melting pot of our surrounding nations. Not only do we 'fuse' our cuisines but we also let things develop side by side - a fine example of this would be KFC being located right next to Tandoori Hut (a restaurant that serves sub-continental dishes). It is intriguing how even though both these food chains are completely antithetical to one another, they have still proved to be equally popular.
An example of perfect unison between the east and west may also be seen at Pizza Hut. Their Chicken Tikka pizza is in fact a metaphor for our society. It represents how we accept the west; yet, add our own distinct spice and flavor to life. Essentially, it is harmony, integration, and a traditional idea given a fresh twist. I try to bring that to the table by attempting to add something from my very own background to the mix. The spice of life can be remade in a thousand different combinations, and I want to be one of the ingredients.
Just like that pizza, I am a melting pot of different perspectives; open to new ideas and ever willing to experience new things. I believe that education is not just limited to my own culture, but in fact it is a collection of imprints from different cultures around the world. Most of the activities I partake in are just a mere reflection of my liberal outlook on life. They are a venting point to showcase my individuality.
With almost two decades worth of experience, I come to Wisconsin with a fresh, zealous mind, to make the most of my experience by attempting to delve deeper, learn more, experience, and live...
i feel the first paragraph doesnt quite go with the rest of the essay, any help fixing it or revising woudl be greatly appreciated.
