One of the "Core Services" on that page that I frequently use is career counseling. The staff there are all extremely helpful and friendly. They discuss with me about the interaction between majors and careers, explore career options and filter them based on my request, and assist me with my interview and resume. I first went there with my questions and concerns about my major, they told me about various job that related to my major and gave me a webpage (career center website) for resource. I will go there more frequently when I approaches my graduation period because I need help for looking for a job or pursuing other degrees.
Under "Support for Student Diversity" category, two student organizations under the "Asian American Career & Educational Resources" subcategory would be helpful to me: Chinese Business Students and Alumni Association (CBSAA) and Minority Business Students Association. Chinese Business Students and Alumni Association (CBSAA) can help me connect with other Chinese alumni to get valuable information, which is really necessary for me. Whether I want to go back to China or stay in US, I can ask for help from those networks I built in that organization. They have activities such as career fair for information sharing; networking events in major cities; speeches of successful alumni, etc.. As for Minority Business Students Association can give me some academic and career orientation or guide me to choose from variety of career options. In addition, I can interact with more people who have the same goal and similar career path with me. By communicating with them, I can enhance my interpersonal skill and enlarge my vision of the current business trend. Also, they hold regularly workshop, presentations, and guest speech which all can benefit me by giving me new ideas and thought.
Since I am doubling major in Economics and Psychology, there are plenty options for me to choose from due to the fact they are both studying human behaviors. Banking, market analysis, retail marketing, finance management or financial consulting probably will be my best choice anyway because there are some overlapping with Economics and Psychology in this field, and I am really interested to this kind of job. However, I need to start doing some interns to prepare for those job because a bachelor degree is really not enough for any job that listed in these field.
I found the job in The Career Center is interesting to apply. It have a normal pay rate of 8.25 which is acceptable; its work schedule is flexible; moreover, it hardly has any requirement. The requirement of meeting, events and workshops are not too much which I think I will be able to handle. In addition and the most importantly, I believe I can learn a lot from this job such as conduct resume/cover letter reviews, workshops, and represent TCC at campus events, or interact using social media sources such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter for Career Center's work. Undoubtedly, those knowledge will help me with my future career life.
