For one who works in a team, the quality of the boss is very important. Everyone wants a good boss, but everyone has his/her own answer to the question that what are the some important qualities of a good boss. Taken every aspect into consideration, I give my answer as follows:
First of all, a good boss should be farsighted. Only a farsighted boss can set reasonable goals because s/he can see the far future of the team. Only a farsighted boss can lead the team to the right direction because s/he can see what will be going on following important decisions. Only a farsighted boss can be a good planer because s/he knows what's to do step by step. So, if you want to be employed by a team that has a glorious future, chose a farsighted boss.
Second, a good boss should be persevering. As we all know, it is not simple to run a team. Difficulties and failures, which could easily destroy one's courage and confidence, appear at the very beginning of the birth of the team and will accompany it forever. Mistakes would be usual. Only those who persevere in the goal despite the difficulty, failures and mistakes can conquer them and achieve the final success. In a word, one is not persevering would not be a good boss.
The two quality mentioned above is crucial to the success of the team; on the other hand, the quality that the staff concerned most is that the leader should be helpful.
Most people have their own career development plans. In order to receive more attractive pay and the rise in status, they need to widen their knowledge, improve their skills and broaden their views. A good boss always gives the employees the opportunities to study more and help them make progress in all these aspects. Take my boss for example, he always provides me the chances to study the good housing projects. These practical experiences really improve my design skill a lot.
Some may have other ideas about the essential qualities that a good boss should have, such as smartness, courage, self-confidence, and etc. But in my opinion, if one lacks those qualities may not be an unacceptable boss.
