Grading on exam or grading on participation?

many universities and schools evaluating their students based on both participation and exam. in my opinion it is better to professors to grade their students by an exam and give them available score.

first of all, nowadays almost all universities have large classes which include more than hundred students. in this kind of class each student can't participate on the lesson and can be embarassed to speak ihn front of the children. also professor can't listen all the students who prepared the material because of limit of time.

moreover grading students by exam is more efficient to the professors. they can cognize their students knowledge easily and save a lot of time. for example if professor listen all the studens to grade them he can tire and get sick. also by litening all students hen can get nervous and students who speak their material can get low grades because of the professors contidion.

on the other hand grading students based on exams can be risky. because children can cheat with each other or get a messege from internet as nowadays all students have smart phones and as i told schools have big classes so professor can't watch over all the students. even student can be lucky on the day of exam and get a high score without knowing nothing.

to sum up both statements that course grades based on exam or based on student participation have advantages and disadvantages. but i think professors should grade their students by taking exam which easily for both students and teachers.

Hi Buj,

I think the ideas of this essay are great; however, there are errors that affect the communication. For example, the first letter of every sentence should be capital letters, and there are many missing commas. I also notice that there are many repetitions in this article like professor, school, grade etc. keep practicing your essay writing while improving you overall English level, especially the grammar and vocabulary, I am sure you will be an excellent writer.

Hi Buj,

1. Well, my first suggestion is that you should write down not only the answer, but also the question. By doing so, it will enable us providing meaningful feedback for your writing.

2. I know this is only for trial, but it would be nicer if you consider paragraphing, capitalization and spelling issues so that we (readers) can easily read your work.

3. For a TOEFL exam, it seems to me that your essay could be too short and may not be meeting the word count requirement for the task. So, be careful with this matter.

4. I recommend you to use a five-paragraph structure with 2 supporting arguments and one against (you need to show both sides of the argument in your essay so as to obtain a high mark).

Introduction: introduce your topic, state your position (thesis statement) and mention main ideas of 3 body para
Body para 1, 2, 3: reason + explanation + example (4-5 sentences each para)
Conclusion: rephrase your thesis statement

However, if you do not have any idea to show an opposing argument, you can write using a four-paragraph structure with only 2 supporting arguments.

Keep writing. I hope this helps you.
Good luck Buj!
