Friday, I was given until this coming Wednesday to complete 5 practice essays to prepare for my GED test.
I have written 1 of them already, but I am struggling to figure out how I should start the first paragraphs in the other four Essays.

Below, I will list the four essay topics, could someone please get me started on these? Or at least guide me in the right direction :-)

Essay 1: Some people believe it is harmful for both parents of a preschool child to work outside the home, others do not feel this way.

State your point of view in an essay. Give specific examples to support your view. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge.

Essay 2: How does the climate in your region effect you and the other people who live there?
Write an essay explaining both the advantages and disadvantages of living in your climate. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your view.

Essay 3: Despite laws that require people to wear seat belts, many people still do not wear them.
Write an essay explaining why people do not buckle up. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your view.

Essay 4: How important is having a GED or a high - school diploma when you apply for a job?
In an essay, tell your point of view. Give specific examples to support your view. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge.

* For the pre-school,seat belt laws, and the climate essays, I just do not know what personal observations I could put, nor do I know how to start any of the four essays above.

Once someone shows me in the right direction, and gets me started, I will be able to finish the essay easy :-)..

Thank you in advance!

PS: I am sorry if my title isn't allowed, but I couldn't think of anything better to put, since I have multiple essays that I need help with.

It is a known fact that a preschool aged child needs a great amount of parental guidance. Some people believe that it is detrimental to have both parents working outside of the home, because they are not readily available for their children. Others feel that a child can benefit from this situation, for a number of reasons.

I believe that...
Because...
My own experience...
Conclusion...

How does the climate in your region effect you and the other people who live there?
Write an essay explaining both the advantages and disadvantages of living in your climate. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your view.

Imagine that you live in the Northeast of America- where they experience all four seasons. Advantages: the change of season gives people a variety of outdoor activities, depending on the season. Disadvantages: the climate causes extreme temperatures, and extreme cold leads to wear and tear on cars and worsens driving conditions (the paved roads get full of potholes) and annoying snow removal. Extreme heat leads to massive energy consumption due to high air conditioning usage.

Preschoolers need time and attention more than anything....
A new study shows....(if u happen to have read about it in a recent report/article)
Parental guidance and attention is essential at elementary stages...

Despite laws that require people to wear seat belts, many people still do not wear them.

Seat - Belt Laws ESSAY (GED)

I have until tomorrow to complete the below essay, and 3 more. Could you guys give me some feedback? Just let me know what I should change and/or add :)

"Despite laws that require people to wear seat belts, many people still do not wear them".

I wonder if forcing people by law to wear seat belts will cause people to trust them more. When I got in my first accident, the seat belt did not protect me from injury.

The injury resulted from a head on collision in which my head hit the windshield. I was so surprised that the seat belt did not protect me from injuring my body. I always trusted seat belts until that day.

People say seat - belts protect people from being ejected from the vehicle, but from my experience, they do not protect people from other major injuries.

What if your in an accident in which your vehicle burst into flames? Would you want to be able to easily escape or be strapped in by your seat belt?

According to a recent study, seat belts only protect about 80% of accident victims, while the other 20% are either injured or killed. My advice to anyone driving, buckle up. You may still sustain some injurys in an accident, but a seat belt will save your life, especially if the car rolls over.

If more people would buckle up, I believe the death rate in automobile accidents would drop drastically.

Hi :) I would consolidate your essay into 2 paragraphs, 3 if you add more content. You have some great thoughts on the topic, and you are on the right track. I can make a few suggestions for you:

I wonder if forcing people by law to wear seat belts will cause people to trust them more.
You need a question mark at the end, and "trust them more" sounds a bit vague, maybe say "...will make people feel safer while they drive?"

"Despite laws that require people to wear seat belts, many people still do not wear them".
You should add in the author's name of this quote, or lead in to the saying: "It is known that despite laws..."

I was so surprised that the seat belt did not protect me from injurymy body .

People saySeat belts protect people from being ejected from the vehicle, but from my experience, they do not protect people from other major injuries.

What if you are in an accident, in which and your vehicle bursts into flames?

Would you wantto bethe ability to easily escape or be potentially trappedin by your seat belt?
Good job, you answered the question well, and I hope my suggestions have helped you :)

Hi, Thank you for your help :)

While I was waiting for someone to respond, I re-wrote the essay with a different approach, tell me what you think :)

It's a fact that not wearing a seat belt can cause serious injury, and even death. Just last year,
over 50% of deaths resulting from an automobile accident were caused because the persons were not wearing seat belts.

I believe some people do not buckle up, simply because it doesn't make them "Cool". I know many of my friends who do not wear them just because they want to seem like the "Dare Devil" type.

Some others may not buckle up, because it is uncomfortable. There are some people out there who may be over weight, and the seat belt might be too small for them.

That could cause them to be uncomfortable behind the wheel.

In October of 2011, I lost one of my best friends in an automobile accident. If he were wearing his seat belt, he would still be here today. He was ejected from the vehicle after it flipped over several times.

He would never wear the seat belt because he said it was uncomfortable, but unfortuanatly he learned the hard way that you should always wear a seat belt,

and that is why I wear one every time I am in a vehicle.

If people were to buckle up every time they go in a vehicle, no matter how the long the trip is, the death rate in motor vehicle accidents would drop drastically.

PS: When I paste it from Microsoft Word, into this text box, it looks really messy. Just letting you know, so you don't think I am going to write it like that hehe :)
