Research thesis statement, allowing women in Afghanistan to contribute to society
I'm in the process of writing my first research paper and I'm struggling to write my thesis statement. All that i have for an idea so far is that i want to write about allowing women in Afghanistan to contribute to society and then use the two characters as my examples. With A Thousand Splendid Suns as my main source, i thought that this would be very interesting to write about.
The instructions were to write, basically, a rough draft for my thesis statement and that it cannot list my body paragraphs topics. I just need something, like an example to put me in the right direction
Thank You!
Based off of the information you've told me, I really can't help you.
I wrote an World Literature Paper for the International Baccalaureate Program. My teacher completely looked down on listing the body paragraph topics in our thesis because it sounded so formulaic and blah.
For instance,
"The main roles of an Afghan woman is to take care of her husband and follow societal rules."
Then, introduce the two character examples in the body paragraphs and explain how they relate to both of those roles. Have one character be your explanation for how women take care of their husbands. Then use the other character as an example of a woman following societal rules.
This is what I think you're asking???? I hope this helps.
This is going to be a great thread. Thanks Kenzie and Paresh!
I want to tell you that a thesis statement is born after you read and read... it is not something to force onto the page. Read, read, read, and when you catch some inspiration... capture that inspired idea, and write it in a brilliant sentence. That will help you write beautifully... and the sentence is going to be "arguable" which means not everyone would agree with it.
A great thesis statement is rich with meaning, because you make it after doing a lot of reading. :-) Just read until you get a great, unique idea...
