Need help in selecting a Ph.D. topic in Human Research Management

I want to select a topic for my Ph.D. in HRM. I have a few topics in mind. Would appreciate any help in this regard.

1. Quality of Work Life Balance in BPOs
2. Talent Management challenges in India
3. Improving employability for rural and semi-urban youth in India
4. Employee Retention in a competitive environment
5. Performance Management challenges in India
6. Morale and motivation in BPOs in India
7. Managing stress and burnout in BPOs

Also, please advise some reputed universities both in India and abroad whose Ph.d. would be recognized for jobs in India.

I don't know the answer to that, but maybe other people do. The best way is to do an experiment. Go inquire about obs and ask what the impressive institutions are. Interview the interviewers.

As for the topics, I can't choose for you. They are all important. I could tell you what I would like to write:

If you keep reading recent articles written by others in your field, the correct topic will suddenly become obious to you. You will say, "Hey! Someone really should conduct a "mixed methods" study, using interviews and questionnaires, to generate theory about the perspectives of rural and semi-urban youth in India about employment in the [name of industry] industry."

You MUST learn about research methods, and you must read lots of the current literature about the topic you choose.

Start with #7 on your list, and search a database of articles so you can find great research studies. Learn fro their examples.

HR Dissertation; Need your suggestions on a Topic

I have completed my MBA in Finance through Distance Education and now planning to do Phd in HR. Please suggest me in selecting a topic helpful to my dissertation.

The way to find out what your topic should be is to study research methods (Google for books by John Cresswell) and then read several articles about aspects of HR that interest you. Most articles will have a "review of literature," and each review of literature will tell you about several studies that have been done in the area that interests you. You have to figure out your topic by reading many literature reviews, and when you have enough knowledge of research methods it will be easy for you to design a research study that answers important questions or solves a problem.

It is just like joining a conversation that is taking place. Work to understand the subject being discussed, and then add something meaningful to the ongoing discussion.
