HI, frank!

A personal statement can be anything you say about anything, whereas a statement of purpose is something someone (or an organization) says they are going to do or be...what their purpose is. Yes, they are two different things.

Hi, Jeannie,

I've often thought that Personal statement is anything you say about yourself alone.
Thanks a zillion.

Best Regards!

A motivation letter or cover letter is more like an introduction, a statement of purpose is the actual essay usually 2500 words in length.

Here's a useful website to write a Statement of Purpose: desigrad.com/sop.php

A statement of purpose is not always that long. It depends on what the school says. Call the school to find out! :-)

One way to improve your grammar is yo post your writing here and allow us to help find your mistakes.

Also, google this: strunk and white
