Introduction for an Animal rights essay?

I have to write an essay on animal rights and why I think animals should have more rights. I already wrote my outline, and I have all of my body paragraphs, I just don't know how to introduce my paper. I need something that's interesting for an introduction, but everything I write doesn't really fit my paper. Please help me write an interesting introduction! My thesis statement is something like: Animals are mistreated through many different ways and deserve the same rights we have as humans.

I suggest you to open your paper with something about the animals that are in danger of extinction because of human activities. Give some statistics to shock the reader. For example you can write about the wales committing suicide due to the environmental pollution. In this way, you can emphasis on the importance of animal rights.
