Hi I just registered and I really need help creating a subject for my three body paragraphs. My essays focal point can be on Stephen King's major contributions, his themes in his works, or any biographical influences.
Only thing I have thought of so far is to include his background in the first paragraph and then find two works by him to prove the point of him being a great horror fiction writer.
Here is my thesis: "Stephen King had hard beginnings and experiences but he continuously produced works that sparked the imagination and fears of readers everywhere."
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Too broad and vague. Try to narrow your approach down somewhat:
"Stephen King is different from other horror writers in that he develops his characters more fully, creates much more detailed settings, and roots his horror in the small, petty, everyday evils that afflict us all.
This thesis is not only more specific, it is tripartite, with each of the three points it contains suggesting a topic sentence for a body paragraph.
How about developing the thesis statement after you have put together some body paragraphs? After writing 3 paragraphs about him, you will be better qualified to write a thesis argument.
King is different from other writers. Instead of writing with the end in mind, he thinks of a "what if" situation... like, what if all the cars, trucks, and machines took on minds of their own and started killing people.
For inspiration, read his book called On Writing. It is part biographical. Your thesis must be specific and meaningful... like... "King says that he writes for the sake of writing, without any motivation to forward any particular theme (see On Writing), but in actuality the theme of ________ is covered in a meaningful way in three of his novels."
Try narrowing it down to one of his best works and maybe you can talk about them. Some examples are: The Green Mile, Insomnia, Pet Sematary, etc. Good luck!
outline his life achievments and success and such and implement it in your own words
"Fiction is the truth inside the lie"-Stephen King - Need a thesis statement
I need a thesis statement dealing with the idea "Fiction is the truth inside the lie"-Stephen King
I need those universal truths that exist in the story that represent something bigger than the story itself.
I must use the following literature in my paper in some way: The Machine Stops; The Storm by Kate Chopin; Barn Burning by William Faulkner; The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry
FICTION IS THE TURTH INSIDE THE LIE" HOWEVER FICTION CAN ALSO BE THE LIE INSIDE A TURTH.
