Hello, This is my Letter of Self Introduction for KGSP Scholarship. Can you please go through the essay and kindly leave your suggestions.
Whenever I read inspiring stories of scientists from my early childhood, my brain used to visualize them as the ones that possess superpower. And today with the advancement of science and technology and its impact in the development of society and civilization, my beliefs towards science and technology has always been upgrading more and more. Witnessing technological growth in a decade, curiosity emerged into my mind and this curiosity to understand technology was a reason for me to choose Electrical and Electronics engineering. The deeper I went, the more I realized that whatever we are enjoying today is a vast web woven from numerous fields and all of them are interconnected. Semiconductor devices, embedded systems, signal and image processing, control system, data networks and many more. My undergrad study connected me with understanding of all these interconnection. It has always been my dream to find ways to optimize the use of information and communication technology for the welfare of people away from cities.
After the completion of my school, I came to Kathmandu for higher education and I applied to Kathmandu University and was selected among several thousand students to pursue my undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Communication) with partial scholarship. During my undergraduate years, subjects like Antennas & Propagation, Microwave Devices and Systems and Wireless Communications enticed me to delve deeper and develop a strong affinity towards Communication Systems.
At college, I undertook few projects titled 'Metal Detector', 'Design and Construction of a Digital Door Lock' and 'Design and Construction of a Traction Elevator Prototype'. My final year project was a research project. While working on 'Analysis and Simulation of Turbo Coding in Multipath Fading Channel', I simulated a turbo coded system in multipath fading environment in Simulink, MATLAB and tested the Bit Error Rate and performance of the system under various constraints. Also, analyzed results comparing them with the performance of Low Density Parity Check Codes, block codes and convolutional codes. My final year project helped me deepen the knowledge of Error Correcting Codes and different communication channels. I think it made me strong enough to conduct researches in my future studies and projects.
Thereafter, upon successful completion of my undergraduate studies, I joined Digital M.I.C.R. Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Lalitpur, Nepal as an Outsourced Consultant, in December 2015. My job required working on many technologies such as Database Management Systems and Process Designs. These complex and sensitive tasks not only required meticulous research for the solutions but also demanded a strong hold on concepts related to databases, programming and logical reasoning. Additionally, I was involved in installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems. In addition, the job required frequent dealing with the clients over their problems. This has helped me hone my communication skills as well.
My professional stint has exposed me to several challenges and made me restive that there are so many aspects in this field and I do not know solution to many of them. My experiences with these multidimensional problems helped me realize that I still have to gain in-depth knowledge in my area of interest. A Master's degree in Radio & Communications Engineering will help me meet my developmental needs, as I seek to get firsthand experience in Communication Systems.
Kathmandu University along with Korean Embassy at Nepal organizes Korean Festival at the university premises every year. During the four years of my study, I was fancied by the Korean tradition and culture that I learned through the festival. Besides, I was taught by various well qualified Professors who had completed their graduate studies from Korean Universities. So, this had made an excellent impression on me regarding the education standard of Korea. As I started exploring various options for completing my masters degree, I found out that Korea has one of the best infrastructures for education and research in the world. Chungbuk National University has the best curriculum that suits my needs and has the best set of qualified professors, research centre and lab to help me achieve my goals.
